Look for "Headhunter" on Shapeways. That seems to be the code word. |
Moonbeast | 18 Mar 2013 12:00 p.m. PST |
I have the Headhunters from Coolhand (both types) in FUD and the Senate starship (in WSF), 2 DX9's (in FD) and 4 Class-A cargo containers (in WSF) from Topo. All are excellent quality prints. Mel is the only one who makes the TIE Phantom and Outrider (both of which I want), but his prints seem to be lacking in detail to me. I'm awaiting some of Gosric's prints to find out how they compare. |

I've seen a nice Tie Defender there, but sadly it didn't appear it was for sale. Would love several of those for the X-Wing scale. |

We're all scofflaws and outer rim smugglers anyway. No one is allowed to use any part of the X-Wings Miniatures Game without specific written permission from Lucasfilm Ltd. Really. Read the fineprint on the back of the box. |

Does anyone make an Imperial shuttle? |
miniMo | 19 Mar 2013 7:06 a.m. PST |
For Imperial Lambda Shuttles: Hallmark makes ones that's pretty close to 1/270 F-Toys makes a nice inexpensive one which is ~1/310 scale I got an F-Toys one from EBay. At 62mm long, it looks quite nice! |

The official B-Wings still look a little small to me; I think I will stick wth the Titanium ones I have been hoarding, at least until the new release lets me compare them side-by-side with the extant models. |

These look really good. I'd love to hear back on this thread about how they look in real life. Einar Gosric in particular has uploaded a variety of new minis. The only complaint I've ever seen about their quality is that they lack a hole for a base-- something any experienced gamer shouldn't have a problem with even for x-wing stems. I've ordered a few and will give a more full report. Note that some of the minis are his custom designs-- that's a major plus IMO because they fit in perfectly while being unique and distinctive. |

OK, belatedly, I have a review of Einar Gosric's Star Wars 1/270 minis. I have several: three TIE/ad Avengers, a TIE/D Defender, and a Missile Boat. All in FUD. Wow. OK, first, the scale and level of detail are excellent. These are models that are made with loving attention to detail, and it shows. The only complaint I've heard is the lack of a hole for a base, but I magnetize so that's not important to me. Print quality is good, but I urge people to stick to FUD for minis like this. On the Defender, because you have lots of angles, some print lines are inevitable, but even then they're subtle and not a major problem. There's a little wax left over from the print, but soap, water, and a toothbrush fix that. Durability is comparable to plastics. Detail is similar overall to resin; resin does fine details better, but you don't get air bubbles, mold lines, or miscasts from 3d prints. Einar is a great 3d artist and obviously cares deeply about getting stuff right. His original 1/270 work is excellent, and the EU ships are positively fantastic. His z-95 has modular weapons. His new Assault Gunboat has folding wings. !!! Overall, highly recommended. |

Thank you Wellspring. Hello all |
miniMo | 02 Feb 2014 9:48 a.m. PST |
Mel Miniatures has been steadily working on adding more detail to his models and posting lots of comparison pix on BGG, they're looking a lot better now. link |

Welcome to TMP, Einar! You'll see some familiar faces here. Yeah, I've noticed that Mel's minis are being updated with a greater level of detail. His best is still actually someone else's STL file, Jan (laserschwert) made a YT-2000 that looks fantastic. But his own stuff is getting considerably better. I've still yet to buy anything from him; Einar's pretty much got a lock on my business at the moment. Mel also just posted an AT-AT and an AT-ST. The AT-AT appears to be small for 1/270 (its size varies all over the place in published material, but wookiepedia gives 22.5m for height). Both look pretty good, though neither is poseable. Since I know of no other microarmor scale AT-ST, though, that might be the best option for epic scale gamers. |

Ive been having way too much fun with the Phantom *L* first the overdone 6 wing version which actually now i have lengthened the stalks and did some adjusting looks a lot better. And now the 4 winged version that just happened with the heavy missile tubes on the sides.I'll upload a pic to Starranger but i like the lines of it so far. I think there was something like it in the rpg but i cannot remember the name. I have almost completed the Phantom and then i'll do your custom version. Ill have to look back at your specs and make sure i have them right. Oh and did i mention that the modular Z-95 is delayed temporarily as is the 3 pack of TIE Defenders. My computer will not handle the complexity, sadly, but i have a fiend who is going to do the conversion for me until i can get a better system (very soon hopefully) |

I got a trio of Einar's Corporate IRD's. They're quite lovely. I've got them washed and primed, but not painted up yet |

I just got three more TIE Avengers, another missile boat, and the new assault gunboat. All in FUD. Detail and build are superb. I really can't recommend these enough. The Phantom and Spectre look great! On the FFG site, someone said it made a better TIE Hunter than the actual original art and I agree (something I'd also say about the IRD). |
