Dear All,
Empress Miniatures have released both Rupert and Cromwell Charity figures in aid of the Naseby Battlefield Project.

The Naseby Project aims to enhance visitor facilities at Naseby battlefield, and eventually establish a visitors centre.

A visitors centre is a worthwhile goal. Lovely miniatures.

Worth waiting for. Not much Empress ECW has been seen painted yet: I could only find one shot figure online. Only then we will see its true potential.

I've got to say every time I see an Empress figure I want to buy it – regardless of period. Those ECW figures look great.

My take on Empress:

They are similar to Perry in grace of line and proportion, but with even better detail and definition.

The avoidance of weld metal where details like reins and scabbards are applied is a revolutionary feature, as well as having no flash in inaccessible places to necessitate hazardous actions with the scalpel.

Contrary to what someone else said, I think the beautifully thin swords are easy to straighten out before painting, but after painting this could be a problem if you want to transport them anywhere. Plastic swords made to the same excellent proportions would be a very welcome development.

As regards size, I wouldn't want to mix them in the same unit with Perry, as they are appreciably taller. However, I was relieved to see that they would look fine on the table with Perry in other units. It seems they have the size compromise spot on.

The Cromwell and Rupert figures are excellent. At last there is a viable Cromwell for those who already have Perry armies. In future I can see myself using these exclusively, when I come to do Fairfax's army, etc.

Empress are beautiful figures for sure but am I seeing right when it list 4 figures for £7.00 GBP? Or is that 4 variants times 2?

Sir Calidore09 Apr 2013 5:39 a.m. PST

If you were buying them to make regiments, I think you can avail yourself of unit deals.

Wonderful but VERY expensive, I shall resist.
