Does anyone know where i can buy a 1/3000 scale starter fleet of Ottoman or Russian. I can find plenty of the other nations but not the ones i want. I have seen the Navwar website but it doesnt have set fleets for either nation.

Navwar has Russia for pre-dread and WWI.

Turkey would be a real problem, as their navy was a mixture of different eras.

Magister Militum has both in 1/6000, a much easier scale to paint

than you for the advice… it would appear that there are ww1 fleets available from Navwar that are not on the website. i ordered the Russian starter fleet for just £12.00 GBP there is no Ottoman one so i will have to find them all individually..

Yeah they don't have Ottoman, but then there aren't many ships for the fleet.

Be careful with the Navwar WW1 fllet backs,(Texes will back me up) they tend to throw some what if's or not quite WW1 ships in the mix. I found this with my French pack.

I will definitely back that up! I have all eight packs and there are some interesting choices, such as Mutsu for the IJN, and in the Russian pack there are some ships that were never completed.

But from what I understand, the packs are made up with what Tony has on hand, and they do change from time to time, so who knows what you will get this time around. Kind of fun though, ainīt it? grin

Just skimmed through Conways 1906-1921, and found the following. According to them, the Turkish navy in 1914 consisted of 2 old battleships, 2 small cruisers, 9 destroyers, 3 torpedo gunboats, and several other torpedo-boats, gunboats and auxilliary ships. So:

1) Pre-dreadnoughts Togud Reis and Heireddin Barbarossa were ex-German Brandenburg-class.
2) DDs Yarhisar, Tasoz, Samsun, and Basra were French Durandal class (Normand "300 tonne" type).
3) DDs Muavenet-i-Millet, Jadhigar-i-Millet, Numene-i-Hamije, Gairet-i-Watanije were ex-German S165-class.

Thus, the most modern ships can be accurately represented by using the appropriate models from the German and French ranges. There were a couple of older ships like the small cruisers Hamidieh and Medjidieh which you would have to find close matches for from models of other ships, if you really wanted them. But, at least you have the core ships relatively easily.

Hamidieh and Medjidieh are produced my Navwar.

I have a budding Turkish fleet. Quite fun!
