Plastic Soldier Review has photos of Zvezda's German infantry platoon set. The figures are nice, but don't wow me. I feel the Russian set was a bit better. I do like the senior NCO signalling with his entrenching tool as per regulations! link |

On further viewing; the platoon HQ figures are all rather nice. The officer is obviously a "Hollywood Hans" wearing his soft cover. He has been correctly given only one magazine pouch for his SMG and a map case. I can't tell if he has a binocular case or a side arm on his left hip. I assume his MP is slung over his back. The two NCO's from platoon HQ are both rifle-armed. I do remember that the senior NCO of the platoon HQ was supposed to have a rifle. One NCO looks like he's saying "you lot over there" and might have a map in his hand. Someone should be carrying a case for the the platoon's very pistol and signal flares. This might be on the back of the fellow hurrying along to the left of the guy signalling with his e-tool. Of the rest of the set, most are fairly standard, but I do especially like the crouching squad leader and the man kneeling with ammo boxes. The squad leader has been correctly given field glasses. I must have several hundred 20mm Germans in plastic and metal from multiple manufacturers, and I must have 100+ squad leaders in various command poses but about half a dozen have the binoculars that were listed on the TO&E for them. Since German riflemen were increasingly supposed to fetch and carry for the machine gunners, you can't have too many men dragging along ammo cans or with spare belts around their neck. |

Honestly, I sense the impulse of getting a few and painting them --in spite of not having German armies in any scale! Excellent sculpt (or design), as usual for Zvezda. |

I'll certainly buy a box or two. Though they are a millimeter or two taller, I'm going to use them alongside Caesar Miniatures German Army and German Infantry with tank riders sets. I already have the Zvezda Russian platoon and the figures are also tall, but fit well with their slightly smaller brethren from Pegasus and Revell. |

I was a bit underwhelmed. I've already whinged about the over-the-shoulder-MG-fellas when we discussed them previously (and yes I know it did happen occasionally ie there are photos etc etc) but 3 lots of them and it's the only MG pose in the set
Anyway, most of the rifelemen are extremely boring, but a few useable poses in the set. |

Only 3 or 4 really good sculpts the rest are rather unimaginative. Plus, I really don't need 6 more guys standing firing. Not even particularly good fodder for the x-acto blade either. |

Do these figs have pegs on their soles or are they molded onto the bases, which seem a bit high like Z's boad game figures. |

They have pegs. The Russian set also has separate bases. |
