Does anybody have the sds details for the British fleet for use with general quarters. I have tried the yahoo site but with no joy. This would be a great help. thank you. |

I suspect David Manley's site may have them, since I know he has stats for the WWII vessels. Check the message archives for GQ1 and GQ2, and you should find a link to them. |

Repeating my post from your other thread, with respect to DM's site: FYI, in the original General Quarters 1 and 2 rules, they use different armor protection rating scales for WWI than for WWII. Thus, I'm not sure how Mr. Manley's list works. It went something like this: 1) First, GQ-1 is published and becomes popular. 2) Based on this popularity, the system is expanded into WWI. Wanting to include more detail, the author adds a BA rating, and gives this to the best-protected WWI ships (i.e. HMS Revenge, SMS Kaiser, etc.). 3) The author then decides to upgrade the WWII rules by giving them a BA rating as well, but limiting it to the latest battleships (which HMS Revenge no longer is). This implies using different rating scales for WWI and WWII. 4) Both of the preceding upgrades are published in GQ-2, thus institutionalizing the 2 different armor rating systems. To get the full sense of this, it helps to have both rulebooks (1 and 2). GQ-3 has a 3rd variation

"To get the full sense of this, it helps to have both rulebooks (1 and 2)." Getting both sets might be difficult, if not impossible. According to NavWars latest catalog, GQ2 is out of print (and has been for at least 9 months). Since NavWars is the exclusive publisher and seller (he refuses to sell to retailers), that means its gone. And, I've been told, when the stock of GQ1 is gone, that will be the end of it, as well. |

Both are still listed on their website. However, if either goes out of print, it would be easy to get a friend to photocopy the rules (given their simple B&W format), until such time as they are reprinted. Take out the staples, and run them through the machine. Then if and when they are reprinted, buy the official version. Over the past 40+ years they've been reprinted many times, and will be again. IIRC, my local hobby shop had a pile of each a year or 2 ago, obtained through one of their distributors, so I'm not sure that your info on Navwar is completely accurate. MH |

Mark, NavWar officially closed down all its distribution to retailers well over a year ago. I know, because I used to buy their ships through a local online retailer. When Tony decided to shut down distribution, a lot of retailers were royally PO'd over the move. (Yes, this is accurate. And the latest catalog (I just looked) does NOT list GQ2 as available). BTW, if your local shop had a pile of them, that might tell you just how well they have (not) been selling
