'Intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic regarded our earth with envious eyes….slowly and surely drawing their plans against us…'

'Have you looked at SEDNA'S orbit lately…..'
link

"Sedna has the longest orbital period of any known large object in the Solar System[d], calculated at around 11,400 years. Its orbit is extremely eccentric, with an aphelion estimated at 937 AU and a perihelion at about 76 AU, the most distant perihelion ever observed for any Solar System object. At its discovery it was approaching perihelion at 89.6 AU from the Sun, and was the most distant object in the Solar System yet observed. Eris was later detected by the same survey at 97 AU. Although the orbits of some long-period comets extend farther than that of Sedna, they are too dim to be discovered except when approaching perihelion in the inner Solar System. Even as Sedna nears its perihelion in mid 2076, the Sun would appear merely as a very bright star in its sky, only 100 times brighter than a full Moon on Earth, and too far away to be visible as a disc to the naked eye."

Because of it's distance and 'reflectivity' SEDNA, is estimated to be the REDDEST body in the solar system, rivaling even MARS!…..and 'only' about 1000 km in diameter…..

But I submit to you, my fellow TMP'ers, that SEDNA is REALLY……(wait for it), MONGO and in 2076, when it is at
'perihelion' (closest approach to the sun), Ming's METAL men will INVADE!!!!!!

Actually, the planet MONGO is larger than the earth, but less dense/less 'massive'/heavy metals….and it's 'atmo-shield' traps in all the natural heat generated by the planet, (and cosmic energies it receives from outside…as well as the energies released by the fusion furnaces that run on 'Mongolium'…(a hereto undiscovered 'light' element found ONLY in the Oort cloud and some comets etc), that is used in COLD FUSION processes understood ONLY by Ming and his top scientists!!!

Oh, to be sure….his 'scouts' have kept an 'eye' on humanity and the solar system for CENTURIES…..as he's played his own INFERNAL 'games' vying the various barons, kings and powers on Mongo against each other….and he's done the same with earth, Mars and other worlds we've no former knowledge of!!!!

Yes, we've had 'cartoons' and comics and even a 'movie' based on the 'innuendo, allegations and rumors' that have slipped through the ether and our history….but none of it was ever taken seriously….but as Sedna/MONGO, approaches the 'warmer' regions of the solar system, humanity's 'curiousity' will become aroused when our probes and other instruments begin to show 'variences' between what we THOUGHT we knew and what actually IS….and that 'curiousity' will be our undoing!

Ming is NOT called 'the Merciless' for naught! Just ask any of his subject kingdoms or slave races on Mongo or any of the other 'minor' worlds he's plundered for power, riches or 'new playthings/species' for his genetic labs to 'mix and match' like some game of cosmic 'cooties'….

Fortunately, SOMEWHERE….a determined, but ignored scientist, a journalist and a former sports figure, turned into government 'trouble-shooter' are preparing a response….one that means leaving the comfort and security of Mother Earth, for the distant and unexplored reaches of space…far beyond where any unmanned probe has tread, in an untested, experimental spacecraft!

This may truly be a ONE-WAY journey to certain death and oblivion, but would you join them????

Flash! Aaah-Ahh! He'll save every one of us!

BTW-I've collected Maps of Mongo and various 'artwork'/information about the various kingdoms, races, monsters and more and I'm starting a 1-year project (aaak!)
to put it together into a 'sourcebook' for PERSONAL use, that will fit into pre-created games like 'X-plorers', Savage Worlds, Cosmic Patrol etc….but so that I can use some of the gazillion images/alien figures and rockets in a RPG or 'space battle' (War Rocket!) setting!!!

(It also helps to have the ORIGINAL Filmation 'Flash Gordon:The Greatest Adventure of the All' movie and the TWO seasons of weekly animation that followed the TV movie! But I'm not using the pink 'dragon' or 'Flash' etc as seen in the 1980 movie…(though Max Von Sydow as MING is Priceless, as is Brian Blessed as King of the Hawkmen!)

and now…back to your regularly scheduled bout of 'reality' shows…..DWTS, Duck Dynasty, The Voice, Pawn Brokers and…..never mind, my brother loves all of those!
Darn!

I'm a Flash Gordon fanatic, having collected numerous re-issues of the Alex Raymond comics over the years, as well as the black and white serials. Once you assemble your source book, I for one, would be interested in buying a copy.
