Hi all, when I was a kid back in the sixties (I'm in the UK by the way) every summer holiday this show "The Flashing Blade" would be on TV, I enjoyed it at the time but never really understood what it was about. So did anyone else watch it and can you let me know which War it was set in and what was the story behind it all. Thanks for any info…CH.

Now that takes me back – I remember watching that on BBC1 during school holidays in the 70s and early 80s.

I also recall 'The Flashing Blade' from the late 1960s. Like cat herder, I didn't really have a clue what it was about at the time, but it had swords, castles, cannons and ridiculous clothes, so what the heck.

I remember some time back someone telling that when the BBC bought the series that the French TV station couldnt find two of the episodes but the powers that be decided that it would be ok for kids anyway

…and of course the best theme music of any programme in the school holidays

( except maybe White Horses…)

I have it on DVD in all its dubbed glory. And here's the theme tune to stir the memories:

The Flashing Blade, White Horses, Robinson Crusoe, I remember them all with affection.

I used to love that program, I'm with Martin and didn't really understand the plot but it had all the stuff in that I enjoyed. The dubbing gave me a laugh too

I loved it, but as you say, have no idea what it was all about.

It reappeared on the BBC during the 1990s, but this time as a very funny re-dubbed-over comedy version (by kids' comedy duo Trevor & Simon, I think).

Excellent feed back, thanks very much to all, and a plus in that I lerned about a war I had never even heard of so a special thanks to dropzonetoe for that info, cheers mate. I must say that I was surprised that the show had reached the U.S. I had expected to hear from European members only. Anyway thanks again to all, best wishes…CH.

The Flashing Blade, White Horses and Robinson Crusoe: all fine shows with fine theme tunes. But is there no love for Belle and Sebastian?

They don't write them like that anymore.

My ex-girlfriend bought me the box set a few years back, and I was really looking forward to it but, I hate to say it, but it was utter, utter, Bleeped text! I was very disappointed.

GREAT theme tune, though!!!!

John
