Hello there, I've been a model maker for a while now however i wear a fair few hats and miniatures have raised it's head and i decided to start making a couple of limited proxy ware types

I've been casting with the centricast from tirantis which i've noticed is called a 'toy' :) a lot by professional mould makers. Where as i'm happy enough with this method as it does the job, I'm looking into other sources of moulding.

Any help would be greatly received

Thanks Graeme.

we have used a tirranti machine since 1994 and we have achieved great rusults with it, bigger than 9in is a problem though

Likewise used Tiranti, no problems over what, 6-7 years.

Is that specifically to replace and improve upon the Tiranti system of using RTV moulds for casting white metal or did you mean you were looking for completely new approaches to catsing like brancing out into vacuuum or pressure casting of resin, or last wax casting of brass bronze etc?

Don't have to use RTV moulds with Tiranti spincasters – they happily take standard 9" vulcanised moulds. I started by making my own RTV moulds, decided they weren't tough enough, now I have vulcanised moulds professionaly made by Pete Brown.

hey thanks for the response. Right now i do make my own RTV moulds for the system, it's interesting to see you using the centricast but with vulcanised moulds. I also find the RTV to be fairly brittle just casting resins. That could be an option.

@aidan yep, i'm looking to see how to produce models of this scale but a bit bigger in scope that would be to large for spin casting, like terrain/monsters etc. I've also seen smaller parts on a long thick tab which i assume aren't spincast? Is this vacuum casting?
