now here is a question…

I cant find any original descriptions of what headgear the NMA firelock companies wore. Plenty of secondry accounts (Haythornethwaite etc) that tell me its a stockign cap or similar. Is this the case or is that perhaps a 1970's misunderstanding thats stuck?
Also would thay have had belly boxes for bandoliers?
Thanks

Chas

Thanks Timbo,

I suspect 1970's wargames books have a lot to do with establsihing the myth of stocking caps and the idea of belly boxes etc

Are you based in the greater West Midlands by any chance?

Hi Chas,

thanks for the kind offer, would definitely like to take you up on it in future, unfortunately I have some very pressing work deadlines at the mo and am busy organising a wedding, so the time just isn't good! I've got a bunch of 15mm ECW that haven't had a run out in a long time.

I'm not supporting member so can't do the message thing, but feel free to email on "tee dot dee dot williams at bham.ac.uk"

Cheers, Tim
