now here is a question
I cant find any original descriptions of what headgear the NMA firelock companies wore. Plenty of secondry accounts (Haythornethwaite etc) that tell me its a stockign cap or similar. Is this the case or is that perhaps a 1970's misunderstanding thats stuck? Also would thay have had belly boxes for bandoliers? Thanks Chas |

Thanks Timbo, I suspect 1970's wargames books have a lot to do with establsihing the myth of stocking caps and the idea of belly boxes etc Are you based in the greater West Midlands by any chance? Chas |

Hi Chas, thanks for the kind offer, would definitely like to take you up on it in future, unfortunately I have some very pressing work deadlines at the mo and am busy organising a wedding, so the time just isn't good! I've got a bunch of 15mm ECW that haven't had a run out in a long time. I'm not supporting member so can't do the message thing, but feel free to email on "tee dot dee dot williams at bham.ac.uk" Cheers, Tim |
