Any one know? Almost a year ago a 6mm line was promised to come out before X-mas of 2012. We a long past that and still not a word. Hope fully some one here might know some thing?

Chef Lackey Rich Fezian11 Mar 2013 9:50 a.m. PST

Who promised that? I missed whatever announcement was made.

Dark Knights And Bloody Dawns11 Mar 2013 11:11 a.m. PST

Bet it ends up as a kickstarter…

Space Monkey11 Mar 2013 11:16 a.m. PST

I hadn't heard about those but that's something I'd definitely be interested in.

SBminisguy11 Mar 2013 12:33 p.m. PST

LOL! It may indeed end up on Kickstarter. As we developed the 6mm Gear Kreig product line we had near term plans, but then doing the bigger scale mechs and kits in 1/56th scale took more resources than we thought, and the 6mm line had to go on the back burner. But I'm trying to see how we can make this happen.

We have a number of combat walkers and figures that have been designed in 6mm.

* US General Early mech
* German Valkyrie mech
* Japanese Shi-Ki mech
* Russian G-27 mech
* Italian LC1/40 mech
* British Cavalier mech
* German P.1000 Ratte Landkreuzer
* German Katzchen APC

So let me take this as opportunity to get some opinions.

1. Would you and/or friends be interested in a Kickstarter project for 6mm Gear Krieg miniatures? And how interested?

2. What kind of offers would you like to see as a base-line offer? Platoon packs? Company packs? "Both Sides" war-in-a-box packs?

3. Of the combat mechs mentioned, which type and theater or war would be most interesting? ETO (US/German), Ostfront (German/Soviet), North Africa (Italian/German and British), or PTO (Japanese and US/British mechs)?

4. What about the vehicles? How interested would you be in a stretch goal or offer level that included the P.1000 Ratte Landkreuzer? What about other "super" vehicles from Gear Kreig and real life, like the US T-28 super tank destroyer, or the Katzchen APC?

5. We've done some work on 6mm support figures too -- what about 6mm Zombietruppen stands, flying stands of 6mm Rockettruppen and Helo troops, etc?

6. What about rules? Should the offer come with a rules offer, or would you use the figures for your own favorite 6mm system?

Thanks in advance, love to get your opinions on this. It's a favorite project of mine, and would love to see it become reality…always wanted to play a P.1000 and some support Valkyrie mechs and panzers being close assaulted by G-27 combat walkers and KV-300 supertanks…

Cheers!
John

You need to differentiate somehow…..

There is already GHQ & Adler for top quality higher price, and Heroic and Ross for decent quality cheap models, and a few others in between.

So what will be your USP? Ratte didnt get off the drawing board so you wont be selling more than one of those to gamers. Zombietruppen would certainly be novel, but personally Id have to ban them from any WW2 game I was staging!!!!! :o)

1. Yes, one of the few Kickstarters I'd back.
2. Platoons (3-5 of a type) please.
3. ETO west and east, then Africa, in that order. PTO would be further down the list, more as a completist thing.
4. I want the Ratte irrespective of even whether the rest of this goes ahead! But I would want other super-weapons, but only stuff not being covered by GHQ in their Wehrmacht 47 line (since I already have most of what I want from that).
5. Much less interested in troopers, but might pick them up (probably not the zombies in any case though).
6. Would use existing rules.

These would be on the table with regular GHQ and CinC vehicles and troops (and the occasional other manufacturer), so as mentioned, I'm mainly interested in the pure GK stuff.

TuffSkull11 Mar 2013 3:34 p.m. PST

depends if you go "true" 6mm, to tie in with GHQ and the WWII market, or are going to go slightly larger to tie in with the majority of the sci-fi ranges out there and hit that as a secondary market instead.

Personally I play in both areas, and would be interested in either scale variation :) Let me know if you need any painters specialising in 6mm detail work ;)

Cheers,
Paul

Heck, I'm still waiting for 15mm stuff. Tough to do the desert without any Italian 'Gears!

Chef Lackey Rich Fezian11 Mar 2013 4:16 p.m. PST

I've pretty much given up on doing GK in any scale, but Lion in the Stars raises a good point. How about we get the original line filled in some before jumping to a new scale?

Space Monkey11 Mar 2013 5:41 p.m. PST

I'd want them for use with other scifi rules (DSII) and figures… so less interested in infantry, more interested in cool-looking retro-styled walkers. Though retro-scifi Russians would be cool if they scaled up well with stuff like Exodus Wars and GZG troopers.

green beanie11 Mar 2013 6:15 p.m. PST

Hope fully you will do the non-giant items that Gear Krieg had in the manuals such as the US Tucker APC and other such items like the German hover tank. Would like to see platoon packs myself sucha as three in walking mode & three in vehicle mode if it helps. Hope to see some thing this year hope fully.

SBminisguy11 Mar 2013 7:11 p.m. PST

Great comments so far, please keep 'em coming!

@LionintheStars, I'll check with DP9 on 15mm new mechs, I know we're licensed for multiple scales, but not to compete with their existing lines/scales.

@Tuffskull (Paul) -- what scale are the scifi "6mm" figures you're thinking of (more like 7-8mm?), and do you have any examples of figure lines you respect or recommend in that area?

Best,
John

To add to my post, based on Tuffskull's comments, I'd prefer something attuned to WWII 6mm rather than anything slightly larger. Although i recognize even "WWII 6mm" isn't internally consistent anyway, from 5mm to some giant US paratroopers from GHQ.

Lion in the Stars12 Mar 2013 1:51 p.m. PST

@SBMinisguy: Well, it's not like DP9 is producing any of the later models for the Americans, or any of the quads. Or Russian/Italian hardware. Tough to say you're competing with a non-existent product line!

Gear Pilot12 Mar 2013 5:02 p.m. PST

If you play your cards right, you may be able to license the whole line while they focus on Heavy Gear. DP9 nearly discontinued production of their existing GK range a few years back, but brought the models back due to out cry / popular demand.

I'm mostly interested in expansion of the 15mm line (including all the models mentioned above), but am also interested in 6mm. As others have said, I don't recommend producing what others are already making.

Gear Pilot12 Mar 2013 5:07 p.m. PST

Oh, regarding rules, Agis Neugebauer mentioned over in the DP9 forum that his Victory Decision Gear Krieg may be a good choice for 6mm GK. I'm not personally familiar with his rule set though.

green beanie13 Mar 2013 5:55 p.m. PST

I was wondering if a weapons pack might end up in the mix for 6mm? This way you might be able to put different weapons & turrents on the mechs so they could be modified and have say like in a plattoon of three mechs ( both walking & vehicle mode so say a pack of six for three walking & three vechile) a scout verion mech, an AA version & an anti-tank version in the plattoon? Just a thought. That way you purchase a platoon pack they purchase a weapons pack and modify your plattoon the way you want?
