Well, that's a new glitch. My apologies, I seem to have fouled up your post. |

Well, at least you caught it in time to fix. :) |

Nice. Do the ACTA rules allow the use if Kzinti fighters? |

I wish there were fighters. Not yet. |

Given the dodgy mods they've had to do with balancing drones in SFU since the book was rushed to print, I'd be careful what you wish for. Fighters are going to be very tricky to introduce into the game, especially the ones with seeking weapons. It's going to need time and plenty of feedback from test games. Not that more playtesting time is guaranteed to help much – Fleets of the Fading Suns was over a year late and still full of "fixes" that didn't do the job. |

Indeed it will be tricky. I know one of the playtesters, and he frequently laments how Mongoose ignores his suggestions, and then after the players discover the rules don't work, they adopt "his" suggested changes. :( |

If you're going to playtest, you have to expect to have your ideas used without credit at least some of the time. Still marginally better than being completely ignored and watching a potentially good rules set come out riddled with holes. To be fair, a lot of Mongoose's classic problems could be fixed simply by hiring a professional proofreader to check their final drafts before going to print, but that concept continues to elude them. Guess the budget can't manage that 2 cents a word. :) |

I think he was more annoyed at his ideas being ignored, then used after Mongoose screwed the pooch. :) He doesn't get more than a passing mention as being a playtester anyways. Though, with the release of Fleet Update 1 and the prototype escort units and rules, at least more people have the opportunity to try out the rules and report back. I have not had the change to use the escort units yet, but that's because I am embroiled in playtesting my convention scenarios. |

True – and as botched as the NA Fading Suns book was, they did listen to a little of the feedback from the bits that were put out in public preview through Signs & Portents. Bodes well for the SFU supplement that they're not relying as much on closed playtest. |
