Der Alte Fritz and I have commenced our 1809 Napoleonic Campaign in the Iberian Peninsula. Chapter 1: The Game Is Afoot briefly describes background information adapted from actual historical events here: link The story advances by briefly captioned images and a little narration. We start in the port of Lisbon with photos, a map and a hand-written dispatch. We hope the story, character development, future tabletop game AARs and colorful images will interest you. If you are familiar with the Campaigns of General Pettygree Colonial blog stories, our Napoleonic serial story will be similar. Tally-Ho!, Bill P. |

Tally-ho boys. It was a fun read and you have clearly put a lot of work into its layout. Thanks for sharing, Raglan |

How wonderful, another Gen. Pettygree to follow. We will be looking forward to future installments. Any hope that the Napoleonic rules will be published? Rick |

Here is a little eye candy from the Iberian Campaign. The picture depicts the French van-guard of Marshal Soult's army as it leads the way into Portugal. The figures, cavalry, are from Elite Miniatures and the infantry are the Old Glory limited edition figures made by Dave Alsop. The civilians are from the Perry Carlist Wars range and the buildings and trees were made by Herb Gundt.

Greetings Everyone, --- If you have seen the great photos above and the story in the first post way at the top of this thread, you know the game is afoot. Thank you for your interest and greatly appreciated remarks. --- Suggestion: Go to the story and become a member or whatever the term is so you won't miss anything. Postings will be fast and voluminous in the next two weeks. --- Meanwhile, Jim and I are putting the last paint and scenicking materials on our collections. --- If you scroll down past Chapter 1 on the blog you will see the French deployment area. What would you do if you were Marshall Soult with one stone bridge and a pontoon train? Your screens are across the river and the rest of the corps is arriving. --- Bonne chance to the French and Tally-Ho for the Brits; Jim and I. --- Respectfully, Bill |

If I were the French, I'd turn around and march home. I'm painting up a couple of surprises for them. |

I'm imagining myself riding ahead with Lord Paget's Light Cavalry Brigade with ideas from Don Featherstone's Wargames Campaigns book in mind. The advance guard rides ahead, eventully contacts some of the foe, has to react vs knowns and unknowns whilst the Main Bodys of both sides pound up the road from miles back. Cheers, Bill |
