So far, I have been to only three 'real' castles, although I walked past one that I did not enter.

Windsor.
Tower of London.
Dover.

Cardiff I walked past, but never entered.

So far, my favorite was the Tower.

Next time I go to the UK, I want to go to both Edinburgh and Caernarfon.

Been in two. Edinburgh Castle and one in Marseille, France. Been to the walls of a third in Palma, Spain

When I was stationed in Germany in the 1980s, I went on several castle tours. Plus I took a cruise down part of the Rhine and just saw a bunch more.

I liked how some of the castles had been turned into local museums. Several of these were in the Stuttgart area.

In England I saw several castles in the London area.

Living in N.Ireland we have 100's here from 2 brick ruins to hulking big ones though nothing in a Chepstow/Carlisle sort of way plus accompanying ring forts stone circles etc

I also lived in Australia and I amazed myself by how much I missed no seeing them when driving about the countryside

I must have been to hundreds.

My favourites are the ones across the north Wales coast. You can see the development of castle thinking, technology and architecture from one to the next as the English built them to control the welsh.

Just three for me: Kost, Trosky, and Prague Castle (all in the Czech Republic). Unless you count Cinderella's Castle at Disney World.

I stole the picture of Sterling Castle in a thunderstorm as a background for my computer. This, alond with a prior photo of Sterling Castle and the Apache gunship doing traffic enforcement makes the third such.
You've become an asset not just to me, but to the entire Johnston household. Thanks so much…

Castles are hard to some by in western Canada.

My wife and I visited a few when we were in RoKorea in 1998-9, though, and they were fascinating. We were mainly in the Seoul area.

The walled valley on mount Pukhan has several restored gates and wall sections, and even the parts that haven't been restored have their charm. It was interesting to see first-hand how a sheer 8-foot wall at the top of a 100% grade hill is a very imposing obstacle!

My favorite was the city walls at Suwon. Large sections are intact or restored, including a water gate.

Great photography. I find the Scottish castles especially inspiring (in a wargames sense, of course).

Beynac, Raglan, Abergavenny, Cardiff, Dover, Kennilworth, Dudley, Tintagel, Pembroke, Goodrich, Longtown, Nottingham, White Castle, Chepstow, Grosmont, Skenfrith, Framlingham, CArlisle, Berry Pomeroy, Warwick, and Oxford – I've done a lot of castles! :P

Always take the opportunity when passing one to drop in if possible.

This may be a product of being brought up in the marches and loving norman history – we all start somewhere!

My parents had to take me to a lot of castles as a kid. I've taken mine to a lot too.

I've LARP'ed and re-enacted in castles.

I build 15th century castles out of sand with the kids.

Was just at Lismore Castle, Ireland, an incredible place.
