Sash & Saber also sells their artillery with accessories (buckets, swabs, handspikes) which might be sold seperately. I know Itar's Workshop sells generic crates that might work. I remember seeing a Light Brigade game that used fishing weights as cannonball markers. Perhaps you could try small white/gray beads for the shells. |

First of all just in case you didn't know, in the field they would never (or VERY rarely) stack live shells on the ground. Remember the ammo bags were fixed to the shells themselves so this is extremely dangerous to the crews serving the guns. The crate would only be seen at a depot or inside ammo wagons. |

So how would a cannon's artillery supply look like in the field? |

It would be in the ammunition chests on the limber and caisson and issued directly from those chests to the gun. A crew member would remove a round from the chest, fuse it as necessary, and pass it to another crew member. That soldier would run the round to the front of the gun and pass it to another crew member who would load it in the muzzle. |

You're welcome. Here's a good description of the role of each crew member in servicing the gun: link An impressively complicated procedure that depends on every cannoneer knowing his job and doing it at exactly the right time. |
