Rifled muzzle loaders for the most part, and smooth bores. Best bet is to google each ship.

Gives you as much info as you could want about the period – well, it was published in 1880!

Contains 'Construction, motive power, and armaments of all the navies of the world; naval artillery, marine engines, boilers, torpedos and torpedo boats.'

That got me interested in the period… Any book recommendations on the War of the Pacific?

In English,

The Ten Cents War

Andean Tragedy

The Last Cartridge Vol 1 and 2

Prince Alberts Revenge08 Mar 2013 7:14 p.m. PST

Andean Tragedy and To the Last Cartridge or two good books on the war. Additionally, there is a great book in the uniforms of the war. I own it but cant recall the title at the moment.

The Esmerelda clip shows the usual problems – recoil-less artillery, and they have no idea how a gatling works. Expensive large scale ship props & otherwise quite high production values.

Juniorgeneral has some uniform details, plus you can print them out while building lead armies:

The SPW Uniform guide is also useful:

There was a naval Institute (Originally a UK Imprint?) of the King Book in the 1980's; Have one around here somewhere. Not a lot of information on the Ordnance, he was more interested in Naval Enginerinng.

Yep, Conway/US Naval Institute
