Hi Gunroth Do you mean TAC the 6mm rules from ages ago? Nice set maybe too many phases in the game when it comes to shooting compared to CD and definitely plays slower Cd or Test of battle as its called now plays a lot quicker always loved the big move distances if you can get away with it scale is similar in both games. Both games though do give you a good feeling of combined arms |

Yes, that's them. Written for 6mm, but we still play it with 15 and 20mm figures. So CD plays quicker ? |

Its years since I played TAC but I remember it being slow
they did do some lovely scenario books for it But yes CD is quicker though I have played a lot more of it so maybe that is why, but it does have about half the phases that TAC does Can you still buy TAC? |

Umm, having played both, I'd find it hard to argue that CD plays any quicker. Perhaps CD IV, but certainly not CD II. In CD you don't make tac rolls to change orders/mode, you just slap those command chits down. AFV combat is rather more complex in CD. They are pitched at slightly different game levels, CD works fine with a reinforced Bn per player whereas we played TAC with regiments/brigades. Speed of play is partly a question familiarity, but yes, TAC does have an awful lot of firing phases which could have been simply compressed by just saying 'stationary units shoot first' a la Spearhead. I think the morale and element quality system in CD is vastly superior to that in TAC. |

The newest version of CD plays much faster than CDII, which was the slowest playing of any of the 4 editions. |
