Well its a pain the bum with the numerous scale ranges of halflings on the market so to help people out I have taken a few quick scale snaps.

More pics and what's what on my blog

halflinghouse.blogspot.com.au

I have split the halflings into three different distinct groups based on not only height but also thickness. We have the following groups "Large and chunky (ie fat)", "Small and Chunky" and "Small and Skinny"

Scale Range

L to R: Black Tree LOTR, Marauder (OOP), Red Box Games, Citadel C11 (OOP), Citadel C11 (OOP), Grenadier/Copplestone, Games Workshop (OOP), Battleforge, Warploque, Reaper and Games Workshop LOTR.

"Small and Chunky"

Left to right, Heresy, Heresy, Heresy, Reaper, Citadel LOTR (OOP), Citadel C11 Solid Base (OOP), Citadel C11 (OOP), Marauder (OOP), Black Tree Design Harlequin, Ral Partha.

"Large and chunky"

Essex (Bob Olley), Warploque, Games Workshop (OOP), Games Workshop (OOP) Blood Bowl, Black Tree Design Harlequin Archer of Greenwood, Games Workshop Loopin Croop, Reaper, Last one …shizzle I forget lol.

"Small and Skinny"

Left to Right, Ral Partha, Black Tree LOTR, Red Box Games, Grenadier, Wizrards of the Coast, Grenadier, Wizards of the Coast….missing GW LOTR.

You need alternative's Flintloque Halflings – most of whom stand a decent 6 foot high (in 25mm "scale") !

Nice comparison photos – thanks.

Flintloque was technically 1/48th scale – to avoid treading on GW's IP. Figures were notionally 36mm tall so at 25mm a halfling was in keeping with the range but not anyone else's models!

Great idea! I hadn't realized here were so many halflings available.

I'm sort of taking a break in figure buying this year, hoping to catch up on my painting, and decide where I want to go next. Perhaps I, too, need an army of halflings. Hmmm. . .

Dean AKI – I don't think that was made clear when the figures first appeared (which must be about 20 years ago now !). I didn't fully appreciate just how big the figures were until I placed them next to my 25mm "scale" buildings. And thought "that looks ruddy silly".
