I am interested in gaming North Africa in 20mm. My intention is to start with mainly armor, 10 or so tanks per side (Germans, Italians, British). Slowly, I would like to add AT and arty elements. I'm not so interested in lots of infantry. Other than FOW – does anyone have rules suggestions? I would love a 'why' with the suggestions. Note: These are mainly for solo play, so I have been looking heavily at field of battle wwii, but want to know what else is out there. |

What level of command are you interested in? Do you want to command a platoon, a company, or a battalion? |

I would love to represent a panzer abteilung as HQ, 3 light companies of 3 tanks, and 1 medium company of 3 tanks, i.e. in a manner often seen in FOW. |

Then take a look at Command Decision. Each model represents 3-5 vehicles. At some points in the Desert Campaign, 10 models is all you need to represent the entire armored strength of the Afrika Korps. |

Another recommendation for CD then. At certain times you'll find the light panzer companies might have four tanks in them:) British Armoured Regiments are also nice and simple, HQ, 3 x squadrons of three models, plus various hangers on at RHQ (liaison troop etc). Why? because they are good set of rules for battalion level command, plenty of grand tactical decision making, dare I say it 'realistic' results, yet lots of vehicle fluff for people who like that level of detail. The do combined arms very well when you get to integrating infantry, AT, engineers and artillery. |

Nice stuff looks like a monster to run. I think I am going to steal the idea of being able to jump tables to create the vast scope of the battle. |
