I really hate getting email from people who pretend they've looked at this website and want to persuade me to do something for them (usually, a free link somewhere).

The latest is from a lady who is promoting a database to help students connect with advanced education programs. Now, why does she think TMP has anything to do with advanced educational programs?

Because we have (a very old) webpage for DBA, of course! TMP link

She's obviously never looked at the page, but "DBA" is one of the search terms she's looking for…

LOL Bill that made me chuckle, it probably didn't for you, but I get this nonsense on a daily basis from a slightly different angle…

You could of ocourse had some fun with this – and a two way link…..DBA is of course DBA….. ;)

Hey, I never knew what DBA stood for, great overview, thanks!

I know exactly what you mean, Bill.

I get emails from marketing outfits wanting to put advertising on my web site. If they'd bothered to actually look at my site, they might have noticed that there is absolutely no advertising, and never has been.

May I have your email addresses please?

I field calls at the tiny school where I do part time principal work. I am constantly getting asked what equipment we use for cutting our fields (it would take about 30 minutes with a push mower to do our lawn. They want to push services at me that cost more than the total budget of the school. We just happen to be a school

I only know the initials DBA in a wargames context. Curious as to what it may mean in an educational context, I googled 'DBA'.

The first few results:

Design Business Association

DBA – The Barge Association

Darwin Basketball Association

DBA – bars

Disc Brakes Australia

Danmarks storste handelsportal

Oh. Finally. This must be it – Doctor of Business Administration. Administration? Pushing bits of paper around? Bleeped text*** doctorate?????!!!!!!!!!!!

Cerdic, DBA is also a database package

Most likely "she" did not send you a letter – her spambot did.

I have the same problem. How a Casino in Nevada thinks my website and it have similar business.

Unless, of course, they think of visitors taking a gamble on a free set of rules?

I get a similar thing from headhunters. They'll contact me for a position or contract that is "perfect" for me, only to find out that none of the requirements fit my skill set at all.

Just have a form email you send back requesting a $1,000 USD non refundable review fee and samples of their ads.

*NJH: Good question. If she had read a few threads, she'd have learned that TMP has nothing to do with "advanced learning," or "advancing learning." ;-)

Perhaps because of all the teachers here, Bill.
