28mm camels in a 15mm game?… Nope, that's too big.

The ancestors of the modern camel included an Arctic giant that lived in chilly coniferous forests about 3.5 million years ago. The ancient ungulates were 30 percent bigger than living camels today, weighing about a ton.

Looks like 20mm Camels in a 15mm game, or 28mm camels in a 20mm game would be about right, though. Not sure what you could do for a 28mm game, maybe some toy camels?

Some much younger fossils found in Syria are twice as big as modern camels!

Okay, I can believe a horse would run away from that…

Giant Artic Camel mommies and daddies. Didn't anyone ever tell you about the birds and the bees?

Can I just say that you gotta love TMP.

I read this thread "So who makes Giant Arctic Camels?" just after finishing and responding to the thread "French Infantry Regiment Lineage".

You cant beat the variety and diversity of interests here – its wonderful, and has been since May of 2005 when I first joined.

Maybe some of those Schleich animals they sell at the craft stores for a 28mm? You would have to re-paint, probably.

Why do we take this question so seriously? And without questioning what the heck is this guy talking about?

Years ago, when I noticed that the "pulp gaming" forum was drifting *far* away from any characters or scenarios related to the pulp era; I facetiously posted the question "Does anybody make zombie dinosaurs" and got several serious answers. Then recently somebody posted that they had, in fact, sculpted a zombie dinosaur! In any case, i've stopped caring whether the posts are pulp era related or not. or even if they're serious. I just go with it man.

Feral, or domesticated?

nsolomon9906 Mar 2013 7:55 p.m. PST

Oh Mako – well done man, very droll! :)

One hump or two, vicar?

Museum Miniatures have '15mm' pack and wild camels in their range. They're large enough for 20mm & dwarf the Peter Pig ones that I also have. They're as big as my old Airfix ones. I get mine from Eureka.

28mm camels would be too large for 15mm, but there might be a 25mm camel that would work.

I actually posted this somewhat facetiously. The phrase "Giant Arctic Camels" just smacked of pulpiness. But given all the suggestions, I think I may have to figure out a game involving them.

God, but I do love this board. I need someplace where things are just accepted, no matter how wacky.

The Shadow – I believe that information is meant to be preceded by "when a mommy giant arctic camel and a daddy giant arctic camel love each other very much…."

Yep. You could probably post your aunt Clara's chicken soup recipe and nobody would object.

LOL. At least sometimes the posts are funny.

20thmaine…thanks for that one!

You could probably use some of the cheap plastic camels from zoo playsets from most toy stores for 28mm. You'd also probably get some rather nice terrain bits out of the playset as well since most have some interesting trees (use a good spray primer, then dip in watered down PVA, then dip in fine sand, let dry and paint, then flock the leaves), rock formations, and some other bits and bobs

J Womack 9422 May 2013 8:57 p.m. PST

For the record, if I were to post my Aunt Carol's chicken soup recipe, I would probably be in a lot of trouble.

snurl122 May 2013 11:16 p.m. PST

Is Aunt Carol's chicken soup recipe available in 15mm ?

tsofian23 May 2013 6:01 a.m. PST

Now if you posted her one for camel soup that would be more on topic
