Hello folks. Work overload and some other miniature projects have kept me from my beloved naval subjects recently, but I've just managed to finish GHQ's 32 gun frigate HMS Cleopatra in 1:1200 and I wanted to share some pictures.

I've taken Vol Williams' advice, and replaced the kit's bowsprit with steel rod (I didn't bother to join together two rods, which would have been more accurate. The flimsy kit bowsprit was a single rod, and I was ok with that). The added strength in that key piece actually made the whole rigging process a lot less of a headache, as I didn't have to keep all the rigging tension quite so carefully in balance. Thanks Vol!

You can find a whole lot more photos (as well as exactly the same information on the ship you'll find on Wikipedia) on my blog posting here:

Thanks! – James

And here's a shot I took for the sake of size comparison. That's the 38 gun USS Constellation in the background. It would not be a very happy situation for Cleopatra's crew, but then she did have a record of aggressively engaging larger opponents….

Thanks guys, glad you like it. I was particularly excited to work on this one, as I'm hoping to build up a set of frigates for some good duels and scenarios. One of these days I want to figure out a campaign continuity system……- James
