The Royal Navy's latest, most advanced attack submarine was commissioned into the Royal Navy on Friday, 1 March 2013, during a ceremony at Her Majesty's Naval Base Clyde. HMS Ambush is expected to complete sea trials and be formally handed over to the operational control of the Royal Navy later this year.Ambush is the second Astute Class submarine to enter service with the Royal Navy….

Ambush, what an appropriate name for a sub.

would this be the leaky one that broke down?
but in all seriousness an impressive looking sub, nice to see the royal navy getting new kit!

re the Victoria class – I am personally acquainted with people on the UK and Canadian side of this project and I think my Canadian chums would accept that the vast majority of the issues they've had with them have been self-inflicted. The boats themselves were generally sound – at least as sound as one would expect vessels that had been laid up for years to be in. And they were in FAR better condition than second hand warships sold by some other countries that I am too polite to mention :)

Also, the Canadians may have had some difficulty obtaining technical support, as I nicked the sign saying "Upholder Class Technical Support" off a door in Platypus building at HMS Dolphin, and later stuck it on my office door at Brunel University.

Not sorry.

All the best,

John.
