Mike of course I remember them. The retail store was the Bunker. It was my main place for gaming between 1977-1980. They had a contract to do 1/285 miniatures for the Army. Mostly at Fort Hood but I was told that others posts carried Forrest's stuff. They also made 15mm Fantasy for LotR based on the WRG historical sketches. They had two names. One was martian metals adn the other was used in a movie in the late 1970s. |

The first production name was Westwall Bunker then just Westwall. They stopped producing when Forrest went to work with martian metals and later FASA in about 1978/79. |

A classmate of mine lived next door to their house. The child of one of them used to leave microarmor, planes, etc. in the yard all the time just as if they were the simple plastic army men of our youth. The classmate used to trade me some of them for my plastic stuff. The Bunker is where I got my copy of Empire II when it was first released. I was a ripe old 11 year old or so then. I remember the sticker shock when the Heritage Napoleonettes went from $1.95 USD a pack to $2.95 USD a pack; the horror! I was there from 1974 to 1978. My Dad was stationed at TCATA on West Fort Hood. |
