I have an acquaintance that will be going through this training program. Heavy duty Spec Ops training involved that is quite selective ;-)

There was a pilot program in Afganistan where ONE para rescue guy would jump off the birds in a hot emviroment and proceed as a singleton looking for the critically wounded SM. They have a number of saves but my God who came up with sending ANYONE in alone. Just does not pass the basis of light infantry combat tactics.

Not passing the light infantry tactics basics is mild, I jumped with some of these guys and they aim for the frigging trees! They do that just to get good cover quickly.

Para Rescue guys are just nuts.

In 1986 while going through LE training in Texas the PJ's first phase of training was across the street from us. We also shared the same chow hall, they had two tables reserved for them at the back of the room.

first week there was about 20 of them. Every morning we'd finish with PT and go to breakfast. After our breakfast they'd just be getting back from their PT. Then they'd jump in their pool and start swimming laps. It would be about 40 – 45 degrees out. By the end of our six weeks of training the PJ table in the chow hall was down to four guys.
