VonBlucher | 02 Mar 2013 12:30 p.m. PST |
Sho, Coming along nicely!! Only 2 more to go!! For those that don't know or seen have Sho's work, He's been an active member of the General de Brigade forum for a few years. Also these are 18mm, as the horses are AB light Cavalry horses. John |

I want a Murat in Autumn! |
von Winterfeldt | 03 Mar 2013 12:14 a.m. PST |
very nice, both of them – lovely details |
Lamads67 | 03 Mar 2013 12:57 a.m. PST |
Love them – can't you put them in production :-) |
Redcurrant | 03 Mar 2013 2:52 a.m. PST |
Beautiful figures – please put them into production. |
Sho Boki | 03 Mar 2013 3:31 a.m. PST |
Thanks! :-) Murat was 190cm in heigh.. so yes, for 18mm he works well too. Production.. I don't have proper production equipment, all figures I pour one by one. But molding pasta instruction promise 100 copies.. so the limited edition will be on sale, if all goes well. |
Fredloan | 03 Mar 2013 9:01 p.m. PST |
I would like a Murat in Winter. Thank you. |
Jcfrog | 04 Mar 2013 6:01 a.m. PST |
Beware that you can't sell modified figures from someone else; here Eureka/ Barton. Ask the aussie for written permission. he could also buy your "greens" even if actually brownish. |
VonBlucher | 04 Mar 2013 6:11 a.m. PST |
@Jcfrog, Those are original. Sho casted in metal his basic sculpt and is producing 4 different versions of Murat off of it. Check under Sho's gallery pics, last page in the General de Brigade forum. generaldebrigade.fr.yuku.com |
von Winterfeldt | 05 Mar 2013 12:36 a.m. PST |
Wow – what a super talent of sculpting and painting, truly inspirational @Sho Boki What sculpt are you using??? |
Sho Boki | 05 Mar 2013 3:30 a.m. PST |
I use Tamiya Epoxy Putty.. |
von Winterfeldt | 05 Mar 2013 4:48 a.m. PST |
I looked at your web site and blog – superb. How to get in touch for ordering the Towarcys and Murat?? |
Sho Boki | 05 Mar 2013 6:58 a.m. PST |
Thanks! You can observe the process of producing all these Murat's right here or on my website. When I am ready for selling, I will say this on this topic here and ordering information will be visible on my website.. boki.ee/Painted_Figs/Painted_Figs.htm But Towarcys are different story.. this figures are TOO big, bigger then Murat's. More 19mm and not 18mm. This is unacceptable for me and on one time I propably sculpt new ones.. as I plan slowly cover the lines, not covered by AB. I made 17 painted Towarcys figures but half of them have casting defects – missing fingers and pistols.
For myself I keep 8-9 soldiers and 2 officers. Others, the worst ones, I may sell, all at once.. if anybody wants. With lances but without horses. And figures are without varnish, only with Foundry paints. |
von Winterfeldt | 05 Mar 2013 7:35 a.m. PST |
I cross my fingers for your next batch of Towarcys then, in case you need references – pictures – let me know, I know a person who has a lot of information about the corps (10 squadrons of the regiments and 5 for the battalion) |
von Winterfeldt | 05 Mar 2013 12:03 p.m. PST |
get your figures cast by Eureka |
VonBlucher | 05 Mar 2013 12:37 p.m. PST |
Sho, The Towarcy's are a little big. Heck it was your first shot at sculpting mounted figures though. The Murat's are coming along nicely though. I'm waiting for all 4 that you're working on to be completed. I would look into the offer that Baxterj John Baxter) made as he does allot of the painting work for Nic at Eureka.AU. and is very close to Nic.

Sho, Well done!! Only one more to go. John |
von Winterfeldt | 10 Mar 2013 3:49 p.m. PST |
give them to a professional caster which will give credit to your sculpting |
Der Alte Fritz | 12 Mar 2013 5:49 a.m. PST |
Very nice. Can you do it again in 28mm? |
Sho Boki | 13 Mar 2013 4:49 a.m. PST |
Thanks, Der Alte Fritz. But I must decline.. I may sculpt 6mm, but not so big figures as 28mm. One such gigant consume all my sculpting materials for entire army.. And now Murat in Summer..
Next step – horse. Very difficult for me. |
von Winterfeldt | 13 Mar 2013 5:53 a.m. PST |
You should get in touch wiht Franz Nap about sculpting horses, he is excellent about it. Anyway, it would be no need to sculpt horses in case your rider fits an an AB horse. As for 28 mm – I am quite positive that you could sculpt that scale as well. |
VonBlucher | 13 Mar 2013 9:07 a.m. PST |
Sho, The last one is perfect for me. I'm in for that one. John |
Sho Boki | 13 Mar 2013 11:12 a.m. PST |
Anyway, it would be no need to sculpt horses in case your rider fits an an AB horse. You right, but I dont have rights for resculpting AB horses with Murat harness and sell its as my owns. The last one is perfect for me. I'm in for that one. I plan to pack all the 4 Murats and horse together.. otherwise shipping costs will be multiple times higher than the Murats own price. And we allways need all this different Murats for different battles and different Seasons.. Prepainted Murat's will be offered too.. but I don't know yet, what is the right price for my painting quality. |
von Winterfeldt | 13 Mar 2013 1:33 p.m. PST |
One can buy horses individually from Eureka You can sell the 4 riders without horses, all one has to is to order 4 horese from Eureka, I cannot see a copyright problem there. Anyway in case you go for horses I am looking forward to see your progress with them. Still, in my view important, when you do such excellent sculpts – you should get excellent casts as well which do your sculpting credit. |
Sho Boki | 13 Mar 2013 1:55 p.m. PST |
What I can say.. I learned, how to paint.. I learned, how to sculpt.. and I will learn, how to cast.. |
Robert le Diable | 20 Mar 2013 9:35 a.m. PST |
Brilliant work, very impressive; how do you get the images to revolve? And "Murat was 190cm in height" – that's six foot, four inches? |

Sho, It look as you're casting came out good also. Let us all know when and if you're thinking of selling some of the castings. John |
von Winterfeldt | 25 Mar 2013 11:56 p.m. PST |
Congratulations, the castings came out well. |
Sho Boki | 26 Mar 2013 1:39 a.m. PST |
My God! It is shame to me to say that, but they are much much easier to paint than AB. I allmost don't believe this. I will resculpt the first Murat.. as it is less favorable. Must add more bear and new shape for hat.. But don't worry, I already bought 60 plastic boxes and envelopes for shipping.. must find some bubble wrap too. |

I create 2 new versions on this theme. Murat in Grand Admiral uniform, standing with staff. And ordinary general in winter overcoat, may act as Ney in Moscow campaign.

Sho, Great looking additional sculpts. John |
Sho Boki | 30 Mar 2013 2:05 a.m. PST |
Thanks! :-) 3 molds are ready, 3 must be prepared. After week I propably begin cast my first limited edition for sell. Question to Americans. When I will send packet outside of Europa, I must declare custom value. How this affect You? Are there some minimum limits, below what custom officers don't bother You? |
VonBlucher | 30 Mar 2013 7:56 a.m. PST |
Sho, I've never had an issue with anything I've ordered from the UK. But it's been flags mostly. The amounts was around $100.00 USD US. I checked the US Customs website and it list single day purchase per person from overseas as $50.00 USD per day duty free. I've purchased figures years ago from England to what amounted to over $400.00 USD and never paid any duty on the them. Of course, I don't have any of the paper work to see how that was labeled by them on a customs form. John |
Sho Boki | 30 Mar 2013 8:18 a.m. PST |
Good to read this, thanks. If 50 $ per day, then this will not be a problem at all. Today I cast with my 3 molds. Average tempo – 1 figure per 10 minute. Slow.. Four hours and 24 raw figures so far.
And one more question.. are there somebody, who want pre-painted figures?
|
Sho Boki | 01 Apr 2013 12:32 p.m. PST |
Little reshaped Murat in Winter..
|
Sho Boki | 08 Apr 2013 2:17 p.m. PST |
Last 3 molds are ready. Casting begins.
On next week first 20 Murat sets propably will be on sale. I don't have any idea, how many I must make them.. but we will see. Von Winterfeldt.. You said, that You "know a person who has a lot of information about the corps of Towarcys". Can You ask him about average height of Towarcys? I follow 1:100 scale and correct height will be important for me. |
von Winterfeldt | 08 Apr 2013 11:07 p.m. PST |
I applaud your effort for serious research, but for height of figures – (in contrast to dimensions of equipment) – my option would be – that the Towarczys would blend with AB – so that they are compatible – and as you state on your excellent HP fill some gaps of the AB range. |
Sho Boki | 09 Apr 2013 10:19 a.m. PST |
When I collect information about Anthony Barton, I discover, that at first he begin sculpt equipment in 1:100. And this is true.. all AB cannons and muskets are exactly 1:100 by length. But men are not. |
Sho Boki | 14 Apr 2013 10:10 a.m. PST |
First 20 sets are ready and one mold are already broken. All figures are cleaned from flash and bubbles. Now I must rewrite my website.. |
Sho Boki | 16 Apr 2013 9:49 a.m. PST |
Hip-hip-hurreigh! I am ready for my first sale. Who want – go and claim. First 20 gets his Murat's immediately, but others must wait for next castings.. boki.ee/Painted_Figs/FR_0001/Boki_Shop.htm I don't know, how big the demand may be.. and handcasting takes many time, so I limit itself with 20 sets at first. If there are more demanders, then I will decide – must I buy some centricast machine or I can proceed cast next series manually one by one.
|
Sho Boki | 19 Apr 2013 8:20 a.m. PST |
Seems, that 20 sets are enough. I don't must cast it more. 8 sets are left yet. |
von Winterfeldt | 23 Apr 2013 4:39 a.m. PST |
My Murats arrived already today, excellent sculpts and castings, excellent packing, no dammage and fast delivery, thanks for the "extra" |
Sho Boki | 23 Apr 2013 7:20 a.m. PST |
You are welcome! :-) We now wait for pictures of Murat's, painted by You. And I apologize for inconvenient payment method, there was no point to set up full Paypal service for only 20 sets. |
