I have just posted a battle report on my blog so thought I would share a few pics in the gallery here. It's a boardgame/miniatures hybrid I guess, just right for me at least. This one is Foz do Arouce – 1811. The game is of course the excellent 'Commands & Colors Napoleonics' and the figures are by Baccus, based to fit in the board hex grid. Full report with pictures here: link Cheers, Lee.

Oh, I like those strength markers! Really very nice presentation overall. I can see some 6mm rebasing in my future! I take it that a base full of French skirmishers is a Light Infantry unit? (Last picture, unit on lower-right.) Are you using more figures for Heavy Cavalry and less for Light? Given that there are starting to get to be so many different troop types in C&C:N, how are you keeping them straight? By the actual figure type? Are these 40mm by 30mm bases? Are you thinking of building suitable terrain to replace the hex tiles (and then putting the tiles back on when a unit is in that hex)? Thanks for sharing this. Dale |

Hi Dale, thanks for your comments. I'm basically using each small base to represent the number of C&C 'blocks' per unit with the actual figure in the rear right corner. I need smaller markers! Those are tiny Dutch coins I found in a huge bag of old coins my Father in Law had, very handy for markers but I can't find one small enough yet. Troops, yes, I just indicate by the figures themselves, I only do Napoleonics so I can tell most of them, but a sticker could be used underneath too. This is the 'first phase' of this project now, plan is to use each of these little units as individual 'blocks' in time, 100mm hexes on a standard 6 x 4 table with full terrain. I'm getting there slowly. Those bases are actually 50mm x 35mm, I have them laser cut and they are perfect for this. Thanks Dale, Lee. Cheers kev, much appreciated. |
