Can some one provide a link or some advice on prepping a verlinden resin 200mm bust for assembley and painting?

My main concern is getting rid of the large, thick pieces of excess resin attached to the parts. I was suprised by these.

Also, I understand a mask is need when working around resin dust. Are we talking a simple gauze mask or a painters type respirator?

TIA
