Fascinating stuff, I had no idea that his heart had been preserved,…well the attempt was made at least. The article also provides some interesting insights into Medieval thought.

Interesting, considering that according to contemporary croniclers, his mumiffied heart was supposed to have been taken 'on crusade' in accordance with his will, but while travelling through Spain the escort was attacked by local Muslims & the heart in its casket was lobbed into the Muslim army as a last act of defiance, and supposedly lost.

I've heard the "heart on crusade" story before, but refering to Robert Bruce rather than Richard, and it was in Spain rather than Palestine.
