Got a good friend who's moving up to Springfield in a few months. How's the Historical gaming scene up there and who should he contact.
We're losing a great gamer!

St. Louis metro area, both in Missouri and on the Illinois side, is loaded with gamers and stores. Springfield is less than 1 1/2 hours north, but that may be the drive that represents the best option. There ought to be scattered mid-state gamers, though, because there are an assortment of combo gaming conventions put on during the year.

Mike,
Springfield is pretty slim. There are a few gamers in Decatur and several in Bloomington, Peoria, and Champaign as well. One and two are spread around the surrounding counties but not very active here on TMP. I am currently in Danville about 2 hours away. There are several conventions in the State and big groups up near Rock Island and Chicago of course.

Yeah, Springfield used to have a very active historical miniatures scene several years ago until one of the movers and shakers passed away and things broke up.

As James has said there is a really active group in Bloomington, and some great gamers in the rest of the area, which is home to the CITW, (Central Illinois Tabletop Warriors). Mike Wallis in Washington, IL is the secretary of the group. We do have a Yahoo group and I think Mike is working on a Facebook page. PM me your friends E-mail and I will pass it onto Mike so he can send him our newsletter.

Historical in Springfield is almost non-existent. I know some guys that were getting into Flames of War, but your mileage may vary. I live an hour and a half west of Springfield and make the commute daily. If I were closer, I'd say have him contact me. Otherwise, St. Louis, Bloomington and other points mentioned are probably preferable.
