I'm making a baggage element and was wondering what would be a good color for pigs.

Pink comes do mind but the miniatures are more Boar like than rotund modern pig. I'm thinking something akin to light gray with a black hair drybrush.

What breed of pig do you wish to represent?

Mr Elmo25 Feb 2013 12:33 p.m. PST

The kind that would be hanging around an Anglo Danish army evil grin

I've never done any hairy pigs so mine tend to trend toward the pink-pig look. For what it's worth (which may not be much), you can see some of my pigs in pic 40 at warin15mm.com/Medieval-.html

I'm with War In 15MM. My son had a game with a dozen or more plastic pigs. Good enough for a few groupings and they were all painted the pink varitey. The next ones I do will be the black and white kind.

What colour should the flames be?

The color of the pigs is less important than the color of their bricoles.

Putting on my finest pigskin bricole….

No all pink pigs for the Anglo-Danes. Common American domestic pigs are descended from Yorkshires bred in the late 1700's. Prior to such specific breeding, pigs were of the hairy sort, and most commonly various shades of brown.

The handsome black Berkshire (pronounced barkshir of course) however does have the honorific epithet of Britain's oldest specific pig breed. The breed dates to sometime before the ECW -- but there may have been some random black pigs wandering around grunting in Anglo-Danish.

I'm going with Foundry North African flesh with black dry brush for the hair.

Just a touch of pink but mostly brown.

The pink skin tone is from sunburn. Different breeds have different color. You can darken them showing the dried mud. I have a very big pig at home and it helped me when I painted mine.

If they are mulefoots (U.S. breed) you can paint them black.
