It doesn't say definitely, but is this for v.3 of the IABSM rules? Also, anyone played these scenarios and have any commentary? Considering purchase, would love input. Thanks! |

It says v3 on cover. Have not played any yet so no help there. |

It is v3. Not played, but have bought it. Basically its 5 battles in a branching format. Play battle 1. If Allies win play 2A, If Germans win play 2B. If Allies win 2A then play 3A, If Germans win play 3B If Allies win 2B then play 4B, Germans 5B and so on. 31 individual scenarios over 15 maps if you wish to just use as a scenario book. |

One thing I'm unenthusiastic about is the "fictional" nature of the campaign. Always a concern with gaming a battle since one "fictionalizes" it a bit representing it on the table so some is ineveitable, really. But it looks interesting. |

@ Last Hussar Is the TO&E historical? In other words are the forces historical forces like 21st panzer, or are they "generified"? |

For a campaign though, everything after the first battle would be ahistorical anyway. |

Hi I wrote BoB, so can give you a bit more info. It is written for IABSM v3. It is a fictional campaign, but the OBs are all taken straight from the Battle for Liberation late war western front supplement pack for IABSM, so anyone with a decent company-sized force for Brits, Americans and Germans could play the scenarios. Not really anything weird and wacky in there, although one scenario does involve recon forces. The OBs represent fictional units that appear on or off throughout the pack i.e. whenever British infantry appear, they are from the same company of the Sherwood Foresters battalion, with the same Big Men, same support etc. I've even provided (fictional) unit badges and Blinds templates to use i.e. I've tried to make it as non-fiction, fictional as possible! Sample pages and about six AARs are available at the Vis Lardica website at vislardica.com. Cheers R |

Don't get hung up on the fictional nature. It is realistic fiction and gets past some of the problems of actual campaigns- such as its possible for one side to get it so right that the campaign finishes early – 'battle 2a can't happen, as the defenders historically now have no forces'. Also everybody has hind sight – Market Garden the Para's rush for the bridge at the expense of all else, because everyone knows the problems not doing so will cause etc. Also Historical battles are often so unbalance they are not fun to play. |

What about the maps? Are they detailed and renamed French places, or generic French places? |

another general question – if one buys the v.2 download of a booklet, will you be able to upgrade for free to v.3? |

Hi The maps are generic French places. Not particularly detailed as what they are showing is wargames terrain that fits the scenario, and that will be modified by what players have in their terrain box, the size of their tables etc. Sorry, no: there's no free upgrade to a v3 booklet. There is a free guide to converting scenarios from v2 to v3 available from the TFL Yahoo group, but if you want the scenario packs ready converted, you'll have to buy them again. All eight of mine are v3 converted and should be available on the TFL website. If not, then they are certainly available from the Vis Lardica website. PS it did take me about a week per pack to convert! R |
