Was it a batch of Tigers or Panthers that were left in the red-brown undercoating? Or is my memory slipping and it was something entirely different? Thanks! |

Hi, order was given that all producted tanks between 31.10. and 30.11.44 shall leave factory with the RAL 8012 Rostschutzfarbe. The units had then the obligation to apply dark yellow and green as supply of colours were available. Starting november 44 order was given that the green colour is the base colour and the camo is reversed. Not all production sites could adaped to the orders and as a result any type of undercoating was used as long as production could go on or even increased! link A significante quantity of Jagdpanther ( including the famous one with stripes) is documented in rostschutz also some Tiger 1, Panter, Bergepanther and Tiger 2(Henschel). It is possible other tanks has left factory like this in the month of november 44. It is proven that no hetzer left only in rostschutz. These tanks who left factroy with the rostschutz base and not with the green or dark yellow base can easily be identifierd even after appling camo as the most backward wheels are partially or complety left in rostschutz. I hope that helps.. Greetings and have fun

Thanks, Rudi. I appreciate the information. What you provided was much more complete than what I had seen before. |
