Since i decided that between my 1/1200 scale ships and my 28mm ACW and my 28mm Dark Ages warbands I didn't have enough projects going, I thought about repairing some of my old Valiant ships and maybe adding a few. I always liked 1/2000 for fleet actions (its cool, a yard is a nautical mile) and I was looking at Valiant's site to see if anything new has come out and their 54 gun frigates caught my eye. My question is are these frigates suitable to portray Constitution Class ships? I'm working on a scenario with a squadron sized action during the War of 1812 (hypothetical of course) and I'd rather do it (because of size constrictions) in 1/2000 than 1/1200th. |

The 54 gun frigates are closer o representing small line ships of that size such as the Leopard which fired on the Chesapeake and almost started the war of 1812 a few years earlier. Valiant makes a specific 44 gun frigate sculpt for the large US frigates. They also came out with more smaller ships for the war of 1812 just recently. |

Too bad, one of the reasons that I got out of 1/2000th was the lack of ship diversity, for example 44 gun frigates but no 38s. The Valiant 44s are a long way from being the spar decked American Frigates. Thanks,I guess that I'll just stick to my 1/1200th. |
