Don't be shocked if I buy a couple of those. |

I too had a nerdgasm with the Doe lol. Honestly, the camo paint jobs shown on this thing are great, but don't do justice to the level of detail and thought present. I'm pretty sure a tear almost made it out of my eye while working on it. (I tried to post some pics with a solid color paint scheme [inked up] but my pic host is being a pain). |

Thank you for posting. Love the pic of the Doe next to the Hind! These are definitely on my wish list, along with a million other minis. Please share some pics when you're done painting it. |

Yes, detail is stunning, and really sharp. I am torn on how to paint her really. I wanted something for my bush/light desert setting, but those painted dark with lighter camo looks so damn great. Photos with Hind really show how well size wise and scale wise executed in she

Where did you get the 1:100 diecast Hind? |

Thats popular question it seems :> I got it on ebay. Seller was from Italy IIRC, and blister thingy it was sold in had Italeri logo. |

Got 'em. Some different angles as well as my craptastic paint job. Apologies if I goon up the pics.

Its not bad. Perhaps you should add some camuflage. Such large spaces ask for airbrush for shading. Unfortunately I don't have one ;( |

Glad you like it AWuuuu. Airbrush I think it not necessary as many of the Nova Respublik paint jobs are solid pattern rather than feathered. Here's an old earth vehicle with similar colour pattern:
Nice work Borscope, particularly around the horizontal thruster, which has lots of intricate details. The opposite number of the Doe, the Federal Phalanx gunship, is printed and awaiting casting. (I guess you could call it the foe of the Doe, which sounds like something they'd say in New Orleans, where I just returned from. ) A little further down the line will be the Kestrel 2, an MDMS light VTOL used by many nonaligneds and Federal Freeholds on the Federal No-Sell list because of their employment of aliens in a combatant role (like the Jo-li freehold until its eradication and the Jasmine Throne due to their employment of the all-alien mercenary force known as the JTFB). Also the Cormorant VER (vertical entry raft) has been printed and will be sent to the printer as soon as some backlog gets cleared out -- if you saw how many vehicles I have lined up for you, you'd ! |

Any chance of a sneak peak at those other VTOLs and gunships Khurasan? |
| khurasanminiatures | 23 Feb 2013 9:20 a.m. PST |
I already have posted one of the cormorant. The kestrel has not been designed yet and I won't be previewing the phalanx, based on my experience with the Doe. |

Khurasan makes my two favorite all time vehicle minis (any scale). 1) The Lion: I'm sad to have heard that this wasn't a blockbuster in sales. The thing is a beast: beautiful and terrible. 2) The Doe: This thing rocks. It wears its inspirations on its sleeve (the Hind and the P-38 Lightning) and actually makes it work. Business in front, party in the back. Amazing looking mini. |

Wellspring, thanks. I get the sense that the problem with the Lion was due to marketing. It was made as a vehicle for the Felids but many people who collected the Felids did not use it for that. They told me it was too human a design, and used other companies' models, with a more alien mech-like appearance. So I've listened to customer feedback, and all of the vehicles of the Carnivoran Hegemony -- the Garn, Torans, M'Stellids and of course the Felids -- will be mecha. As most human mecha are shaped like humans, the Carnivoran mecha will be shaped like the animal ancestors of the sentient fighters. As the Lion has a pretty utilitarian look and it has the whole post-apoc vibe, I will be re-branding it as the combat vehicle of the government forces in my End Times range. It's good for that because its massive enough to easily carry the power armoured Government troops into battle. Naturally people can, and will, use it for whatever they want, but I've discovered over the years that how you hold a design out to the gamers actually does matter. |

Lion is very nice vehicle, but the gun (especially first one – IIRC you changed the gun mount later?) did not fit well with the model. It made it look like a toy. I will buy it one day but i am going to use it unarmed, as dedicated utility vehicle. Doe looks like scale model, killing machine. It did not resemble toy in any part, and that is uneasy with such complex and composite model. I much prefer Doe to Rebel Titan gunship, because despite great Hindish from, its back and cargo looks like a toy.. Extra set of intake and undercarriage little remedy this, but despite making it good model, did not place it in areas of greatness that Doe starts from. They are just hard to compare, because of that. Form is ok, its just different aesthetics of the concept. Its probably goes to personal preference of stylization but I am dedicated Doe lover from first sight. Doe is hard sci-fi/near futurethat will work in any other setting, while rest of Gunship/attack craft models are more of space opera/ space fantasy settings only. Thats make Doe absolute number one for me. (and thats why i will prefer to use this new T90 model (another beauty) to your Red Banner family of sci fi soviet tanks. Benchmark for those two models is just to high for the rest of the 15mm sci fi vehicle market ! |

The gun on the lion was changed, yes, and there are two choices now so I think everyone should be happy. It is easy to cover over the turret though if you want it unarmed. |

IMHO its better suited as heavy carrier for something like Scud more than light weapon platform. |

Funny, I was planning on using a Lion as the Airport Crash-Fire-Rescue truck. Now, if I can find time/$$ to get a Doe, I'm going to paint one in the 'Eagle' scheme. Just because. Well, OK, because if I won the lottery I'd buy a Hind (and spare parts/mechanic) and have it painted in that scheme! |

I like most plain dark green of Polish AF. Unfortunately it would not look attractive in 15mm

does poland still operate hinds? i like the drk green

Yes. Both in-country and in Afghanistan (top photo is from Afghanistan) Poland bought few units second hand some years ago with Afghanistan in mind. Most interesting is one that served in Afghanistan in Soviet hands, and then after rebuilt returned to Afghanistan in Polish colors! Its dark olive apparently but id did not seen it looking that rich in any other vehicle. |
