"Involved in the European operation Atalanta, the Dutch frigate De Ruyter yesterday arrested a group of pirates about 200 miles northeast of Eyl, Somalia. The ship had reached the area after a warning issued by a merchant ship. Posted in recognition, De Ruyter helicopter spotted two speedboats whose occupants, seeing the machine arrived, tried to flee. The first skiff was intercepted by means of the Dutch frigate, while the second was stopped by the helicopter of the Spanish frigate Mendez Nunez, who embarks currently Staff tactical EU-NAVFOR, the European naval force deployed in the Horn of Africa as part of operation Atalanta.

In all, nine men were arrested and taken aboard to the De Ruyter to be interviewed, while investigations continued, particularly to gather evidence to indict those men"
