Those maps are quite nice. I was fooling around viewing places I've visited and it's striking how many little independent villages on an island like Cebu are now absorbed into a sprawling metropolis. I love Cebu City, but it would be cool to take a time machine back to 1905 and explore the places that were then forested and rural. I imagine it was a matter of travel by carabao cart along a path.

My favorite island Bohol hasn't changed so much. The map shows several named dots that appear to be hamlets or villages. I traveled there in 2007 and our driver brought us back and forth over the island. Outside of Tagbilaran, the main port town with a mall and three traffic lights, the other places are rural. A great place to vacation.

Great place to live too… :-)

Wish we still would travel by carabao because traffic in Cebu and on Mactan is hell. Caraboas are probably faster. :-)

Nice find, thanks for sharing! I forwarded the website to my Dad in Manila. I think he'll find it interesting too.
