I just found this on instructables- a guy built a static grass applicator from a bug zapper. link Any opinions on how well this would work? It would have been nice if the instructable had included a photo of a surface flocked with the unit. |

The model railroaders have created a number of these ad hoc static grass applicators. What's been discovered is that the fly swatter type are a bit underpowered for the job. It will work but it can be frustrating at times. If you want to check out a commercial version of this that does work pretty well the folks at Grass Tech can help you out, they also make a much cheaper version of Noch's static grass applicator. grasstechusa.com |

There are a couple of videos on Youtube that not only show the construction of the applicator, but also of it in use. I made one and it works, it does have to be used really close to the glue to work. |

What's wrong with fingers? |

What's wrong with fingers? Then all you have to do to make it stand up is blow on it. Then spray some clear coat on it to keep it in place. |

I don't recall being critical of using fingers in my post; I was just curious about the end result? |
