Tango's Multiple Posts???

Cherno19 Feb 2013 1:58 p.m. PST

In b4 various people either supporting him or saying he's only posting unrelated stuff, rinse and repeat every few weeks.

Abwehrschlacht19 Feb 2013 2:04 p.m. PST

Who?

79thPA Supporting Member of TMP19 Feb 2013 2:32 p.m. PST

At least he is trying to be helpful and share his love of miniatures, which is more than I can say for you.

Personal logo 20thmaine Supporting Member of TMP19 Feb 2013 2:43 p.m. PST

Lots of stuff – some is really interesting (liked all the Amerika Bomber stuff last week), some is meh and some is OMG I didn't need to see that !

But, he's a contributing kind of guy, and for that I salute him.

Muncehead19 Feb 2013 2:44 p.m. PST

Tango is a legend – picked up various useful posts I otherwise would have missed….. so there!

138SquadronRAF19 Feb 2013 3:47 p.m. PST

Please, my cousin Raul is a treasure to these boards! He posts many interesting items. Some which will not interest you.

There have been various 'digs' at him over the years, but he works for the community.

The Miniatures Page would be poorer without him.

MajorB19 Feb 2013 3:47 p.m. PST

I just wish he'd read the News posts before posting his own.

DestoFante19 Feb 2013 3:51 p.m. PST

For my personal taste, he is a little too compulsive – many posts, every day, on ever changing subjects, always out of context from any topic, conversation, news, with no recurring theme or apparent interest in any specific project. I related better to authors who show some depth in what they do, hobby-wise: Murphy's Bongolesia, Altefritz's AWI and SYW, ge2002bill's colonial… but that just my personal taste – I can live by skipping 90% of what Tango posts.

razuse19 Feb 2013 4:16 p.m. PST

I actually enjoy many of his posts…incredible stuff sometimes. There are certain folks that I just refuse to open their posts…knowing BS that I will get. Tango always has a variety of interesting things…glad he takes the time. Simply do not open it if it bugs you.

Charles Marlow19 Feb 2013 5:02 p.m. PST

I'm a supporter of his freedom to participate on the TMP boards as he sees fit… Without-a-doubt, he's contributing to our community. I've exchanged a few PMs with him and he's an intelligent, interesting and friendly fellow.

galvinm19 Feb 2013 5:35 p.m. PST

Here we go again.

How hard is it to bypass a post?

I read more of Armand's posts than anyone else. Leave the guy be. He contributes more to this site than most.

And people wonder why I am adamantly opposed to Polls about specific people.
Like this thread, they just beg for personal attacks.

If *I* ran TMP, I would just nuke this thread.
But, I do not.

Who's got time to read Everything on TMP ? grin

FusilierDan19 Feb 2013 6:22 p.m. PST

Well I'm glad he sifts through all the stuff out there and sends the highlights to us.

BrotherSevej19 Feb 2013 6:26 p.m. PST

I would have missed a lot of awesome stuff if not for Tango!

WarrenB19 Feb 2013 6:41 p.m. PST

At least he is trying to be helpful and share his love of miniatures

It would help if half his stuff was about miniatures. It would help if it involved any kind of 'love' too. He posts bare links to utterly random sites with no introduction or explanation, just a bald 'of possible interest', giving the impression that 'possible' is the highest level of interest that he might be able drum up in himself.

For my personal taste, he is a little too compulsive – many posts, every day, on ever changing subjects, always out of context from any topic, conversation, news, with no recurring theme or apparent interest in any specific project. I related better to authors who show some depth in what they do, hobby-wise… I can live by skipping 90% of what Tango posts.

Amen.

Without-a-doubt, he's contributing to our community.

No… there are actually a few doubts. Haven't you read the topic?

How hard is it to bypass a post?

A post would be easy. It gets a bit tougher when they start to take up several inches of the front page's new topics and crowd the real posts.

If *I* ran TMP, I would just nuke this thread.

If *you* ran TMP, I imagine three weeks of chaos and then you deleting the whole site in a strop.

No, sorry. I apologise. That's a scurrilous and innacurate presumption.

Two weeks, then you delete the site.

Well I'm glad he sifts through all the stuff out there and sends the highlights to us.

How do you know they're highlights?

Also, I'd like to introduce you to this nifty website. Apparently it's been around for quite a while. It's called 'Google' and – wonder of wonders – Tango is not the sole, official, TMP operator of it.

WarrenB19 Feb 2013 6:49 p.m. PST

What'd he say in the 'That Guy' topic…?

Here, people tried to be patient, but if he insist to be a "heavy" one, some of the mob began to said in a laud voice.:
" Bueno!" (is an expresion, "good" would be the translation, but the connotation is clearly censorship)
It's like to said: Stop! It's enought.

Bueno, Tango. Bueno.

Personal logo John the OFM Supporting Member of TMP19 Feb 2013 7:57 p.m. PST

Like I said. Personal attacks.

cavcrazy19 Feb 2013 8:02 p.m. PST

I think Tango is great, everything he posts seems to interest or inspire me.

Only Warlock19 Feb 2013 8:06 p.m. PST

I know that I'd rather play a game with Tango than Warren.

Also rather play a game with the OFM than Warren.

Just sayin'.

Cadian 7th19 Feb 2013 10:26 p.m. PST

I like the posts Tango submits. Several are from sites I would not have known of nor visited as they are not in english and not something I would "goggle". Some of the time he does repost the news, but a lot is rather neat and something I'd have missed.
I've not used the stifle button, but since TMP also shows the author of the post, I'd imagine it's pretty easy to avoid certain posts/posters….unless you are trolling.

dsfrank19 Feb 2013 11:46 p.m. PST

I too like many of his posts – some of them do not interest me in the least – but then again, many posts by many members do not interest me in the least & I do not complain.

basileus6619 Feb 2013 11:56 p.m. PST

I have no problem with Raul's (aka Tango) messages. Some of them I click on, others I ignore.

GarrisonMiniatures20 Feb 2013 12:22 a.m. PST

Of course some of the things he posts are of no interest. But some are. Same as the rest of TMP.

Actually, probably a higher proportion of his are of interest to me than the general run of TMP.

And not all TMP posts are about the hobby. Sports and 'jokes' for example.

Also, google only works if you know what you are looking for. Raul's posts are generally ones I would miss and have led to me to some useful sites that are now on my favourites bar.

Dogged20 Feb 2013 1:04 a.m. PST

Tabgo behaves nicely and shares things which can be of interest for others as they have been to Tango.
That is a good attittude. Far better than the one shared by a bunch of whiners who mistreat Tango and who could easily miss what Tango posts.
Tango, don't stop being nice and sharing.
Allez!

PiersBrand20 Feb 2013 3:03 a.m. PST

Im confused…

People ranting against a person posting things on a forum?

Ermmm… Aint that what its for, or have I missed something in the handbook?

Seems an odd thing to rant against.

MajorB20 Feb 2013 3:11 a.m. PST

I just wish he'd read the News posts before posting his own.

Who's got time to read Everything on TMP?

I'm not asking him to read Everything – just the News!

Personal logo 20thmaine Supporting Member of TMP20 Feb 2013 5:31 a.m. PST

Far be it from me to advocate the use of the Stifle, but anyone who finds Tango01's posts that annoying do have that option.

Me, I'll carry on reading thread titles and see what board it's on and then decide if I want to read or not (usually – but not always – pass over anything [and that is anything {by anyone}] on needs more boobies).

Huscarle20 Feb 2013 7:22 a.m. PST

I concur with the OFM, 20thMaine, GarrisonMiniatures & others. I have found many of Tango's links to be interesting & in some cases intriguing. Some I can pass on, but that is a choice, read what you want and ignore what you don't, simples…

Doug em4miniatures20 Feb 2013 8:59 a.m. PST

Far be it from me to advocate the use of the Stifle, but anyone who finds Tango01's posts that annoying do have that option.

Without wanting to get into the "Tango devil or angel" argument, that doesn't address the issue of having the front page display of TMP taken up with so many of his topics. I think a lot of the negative attitudes to him are not the content of his topics but the fact that the way TMP operates, the sheer volume he posts hustles other topics out of the back door quicker than perhaps they should be. In so many ways, he contributes a lot but the TMP style of site is not best suited to his multiple posts. However, that's not really Tango's problem.

Is it a full moon again already? Seem like this month has just flown by without a Tango rant.

Tango's a good guy. If you don't want to read his posts you don't have to.

Is it a full moon again already?

I think so.
We are getting the scheduled monthly anti-GW rants too.

John Leahy Sponsoring Member of TMP20 Feb 2013 10:25 a.m. PST

Tango is a good guy and I find some of his posts quite interesting. I would never stumble across them on my own. However, I think Doug also makes a very valid point. His sheer number of posts drives some topics off the front page rather quickly. I agree that is not Tango's fault. It is simply an issue with how TMP is presented. I think long term only Bill can solve this.

Thanks,

John

FatherOfAllLogic20 Feb 2013 10:54 a.m. PST

Hey dude, it takes two to Tango…..

Doug em4miniatures20 Feb 2013 11:23 a.m. PST

I think some people need to learn how to discriminate between a rant and reasonable observation. However, this is the internet so that ain't gonna happen….

Doug

Only Warlock20 Feb 2013 11:38 a.m. PST

i think the first post was an opinion. I think one of the later posts was a rant/personal attack.

Doug em4miniatures20 Feb 2013 11:56 a.m. PST

So, one rantp post out of 40+? Not exactly a witch-hunt, then…

Geoff B20 Feb 2013 12:23 p.m. PST

Im pleased that Tango takes the time to find and post some interesting links.

Marc the plastics fan20 Feb 2013 1:05 p.m. PST

I am a fan of Tango. So those Haters can go and hate elsewhere. I never find he uses up my screen width, so what's the problem? Do you have your TMP set up differently to mine.

I like his links, and find it distasteful of people to make personal attacks on him. Cyber bullying.

Only Warlock20 Feb 2013 1:22 p.m. PST

"So, one rant post out of 40+? Not exactly a witch-hunt, then…"

If it were not for the fact that people DO attack him at least once a month I might agree.

BUT since they do, I would say yes, it is an ongoing Witch Hunt.

Patrick Sexton Supporting Member of TMP20 Feb 2013 1:36 p.m. PST

There have been quite a few topics that I would have missed but for Tango's posts. There are also a lot that I could care less about but as observed earlier in this thread, that is a trait shared with most all of TMP's membership.

earthad20 Feb 2013 3:21 p.m. PST

Some people on here are just rude….
Tangos posts are ok by me. True I already know about some things he posts, but not all.
Agree with the general consent – leave him alone!
Don't like it ,don't read it

badwargamer20 Feb 2013 5:48 p.m. PST

really?….again?……move one….geez!

Allen5720 Feb 2013 5:56 p.m. PST

I like Tango's posts. Even when I decide after reading the title and check which board the post is on that I will not read it I always wonder if there could be another fun post there. Many times on second thoughts I end up reading them.

combatpainter Fezian21 Feb 2013 3:00 a.m. PST

Stuff borders on spam… I mostly ignore but sometimes peak.

Sparker21 Feb 2013 1:19 p.m. PST

If *I* ran TMP, I would just nuke this thread.
But, I do not.

…and for that we are duly thankful, Amen.

But yes, lets leave Tango to do his stuff, personally its rare that I don't find his, admittedly eclectic, posts interesting.
