Thinking (as always) on new projects – which 15mm AWI range would you recommend and why? Which range is the most comprehensive and which are compatible with each other?

Thanks in anticipation of good advice as ever!

I need to add Blue Moon but this should help get you started…

I've used PP figures for Indians, settlers and irregular types and Blue Moon for my regulars.

Some people have commented on differences in the sizes but I haven't found it an issue. BM have a number of items that PP don't do including canoes etc but PP delivery was faster (in the UK) and I was impatient grin

I plan on using only Blue Moon. Their selection is great with lots of poses and they are always releasing more. Plus with the Old Glory Army membership the packs get really, really affordable!

I like the Peter Pig and Essex. They mix together quite well and have good poses, and very clean castings. OG and BM are just bad figures in my opinion.

Included in Mark's review, but as they are not yet mentioned above, we have quite a wide range (well, 94 packs) under Freikorp: link

This is a really interesting period.
WSS issue 63 was a specialist copy all about the war.
They included reviews of the 6 main figure scales/sizes i.e. 40mm, 28mm(is 25mm dead?),18mm,15mm,10mm and 5/6mm. although the 54mm ATKM range looks great too.
If you go to the PP site you can view Fat Wally's fine collection of AWI units.
PP is at 92 packs at present, which gives about 270 entirely original sculpts(no conversions). French will be added next, along with some more mounted types. We are expecting mounted Hessian officers next week.

Enjoy gaming the period

Since formations and movement was strongly controlled, I have a lot of customers who like the all one pose. In that vein, they like Stone Mountain, Musket Minis, and 3rd edition Minifigs.

For bags of character, accuracy, variety and the quality of the product, plus speed of service, and you're in the UK Peter Pig is by far the best.

Hello All,
My AWI armies are in 15mm. I have Essex,Freikorps,Peter Pig,Musket Miniatures,Old Glory, and will be buying some Blue Moon for my Continentals. I have no problem a with any of them. Blue Moon has an excellent selection of Continentals for that mixed look that I want and picture them to be. I just wished they had some light infantry in hunting shirts/frocks, and some French.
take care
Keith

I have mostly Minifig and Musket. I really like the Musket Miniatures Range.

While you did mention a range or ranges that are comprehensive, there is a newer company that promises to cover the period in great detail:

I believe, if I remember correctly, they are closer to Peter Pig and Essex in scale.

Price break for larger quantity of figures, and figure packs are your choice to build, so no left over figures if you order your figures to mesh with your rules.

Wow, those B&D figures are awesome. Hopefully they'll expand the range.

I initially collected the Essex AWI range but have since replaced them with the figures produced by Peter Pig. These really are nice figures and the variety of poses in each pack gives the armies (I have figures for both sides) an excellent campaign feel. The different poses and packs means you can collect different figures for the varied locations and periods of the war. Some figures cover the more formal early war dress whilst others cover the more lived in campaign gear – loads of militia too. The new marching poses will no doubt mean adding a 'Hessian' brigade to my collection!
