I recently bought two different resin trucks on Ebay:
auction
auction

They arrived no issues. Bit more clean up then expected around the wheels, dont know if that is normal or not, but crisp casting otherwise. Bases on both seem much thinner then the only other based resin FOW I have, which to be honest isnt many. Further the picture on the FOW site doesnt show the resin 15 CWT mounted on a base. Also what I take is a spare tire between the cab and body is very ill defined.

All the resin vehicles are sold loose and very good prices with free shipping.

Call me paranoid, this guy has a wide range, many sales and good feedback and hate to look a gift horse in the mouth but are these genuine?

Why don't you ask Battlefront? Email address is on the web site.

It IS interesting that almost everything he sells is resin, and with no annoying blisters or blister cards.

BF resin is a bit darker gray.

Kansas City, Missouri?

When I saw that red flags went up. Take a look over the years here on TMP on products coming out of the region. Knock off I will bet lunch on.

Look at this one for example, yes modified but clearly a copy of some figure modified and recast. (there I said it!)

And the quality of the following:

I did contact BattleFront and will let you know what they say. I did notice this statement on the second auction James sent which is missing from the others:
VERY COOL half tracks covered tops are up, save time not having to paint crews ! i have a small lot of these great details match battle front models in size perfectly

Note says matchs but not is but his title still says Flames of War

The fact that the guy is also selling mold release of all things kind of raises a flag:
auction

If the recasts have good detail that sells me on the mold release though.

Dunno but a couple of those halftracks are definitely Forged in Battle not BF

wrgmr117 Feb 2013 3:25 p.m. PST

The chaps who are selling these are reputable painters of figures. I doubt they are recasts.
I do think Truscott Trotter is correct in that some of them are Forged in Battle figures, some are also BF.

This is their website and under "For Sale", top right is a link to their E-Bay listings.

What makes me suspicious is the VERY cheap price.
For instance:
auction
with a "Buy it Now" price of 2 for $8.99 USD with "more than 10 available". ?????
MSRP is $14.00 USD.
As I said above, they are not in blisters.

Plus the ones I bought were a further 13 percent off the prices he currently has listed or almost half the suggested price. As I said will let you all know what BattleFront says.

Leadgend17 Feb 2013 9:00 p.m. PST

The destroyed PzIII objective is the usual BF one, it is not a mod. The SdKfz251 with cover is not BF.

The only one that looks suspicious to me is the Ford V8 as I think the crew of the BF model are separate metal figures and should have a bunch of different pintel mount MGs with them.

Leadgend17 Feb 2013 9:01 p.m. PST

Also early production of BF one piece resin trucks (such as the Quad and 15cwt CMP linked to above) had very thin bases that often broke away leaving vestigal bits of base on the model.

Got to back Vojvoda on this one. CGR Painter/russlevy on eBay is not the same as the original listing, which is by rilakrilak. CGR is a good reputable outfit, and I wouldn't want them to get tarred accidentally.

I've purchased several from the seller, all under the "make an offer" category. He has never turned down an offer yet, even when they were already on temporary eBay "sale." Good, fast service with good packing. I've been very satisfied with my bargains so far.

wrgmr117 Feb 2013 10:23 p.m. PST

vojvoda, you are correct, I am mistaken. Thanks for pointing that out. CGR are a good company, and yes Brian I wouldn't want them to be tarnished either.

basileus6617 Feb 2013 11:32 p.m. PST

They are cheap, but that doesn't mean they are copies. Recently, we had a flea market in my shop; a guy brought FoW minis for selling, with tanks as cheap as 4 euros per piece. He wanted to get rid of them. I would concede the guy the benefit of the doubt.

Marc33594 Supporting Member of TMP18 Feb 2013 9:07 a.m. PST

I would concede that to you basileus66 but read his listings. He is not selling one set of 2 but states has more then 10 sets available. Further this is not his first listing or the first time has listed similiar deals on the same figures. A flea market might mean a set or two. A vendor going out of business may have a multiple. But over 10 each time hs lists the same model?

But over 10 each time hs lists the same model?

That sounds like a production run to me! grin

Personal logo Mserafin Supporting Member of TMP19 Feb 2013 1:27 p.m. PST

I saw these on eBay as well. I think that if they are copies, they are copies of Forged in Battle stuff, for example this set:

link

Either that, or he's opening up the FiB boxed sets and selling the individual models.

Marc33594 Supporting Member of TMP20 Feb 2013 7:08 a.m. PST

Seems a mix of both. For example the two different trucks I bought are not produced by Forged in Battle and the pictures are dead on with the FOW resin vehicles.

Grandviewroad26 Mar 2013 6:49 a.m. PST

I had the same thought, and it's been making me leery of buying. The knock-off industry is nearly always bad for everyone. It's one thing when a manufacturor purposely discontinues support for something that people want – the case in point being Games Workship and their Chaos Dwarfs. That was stupid enough that I don't blame people for making their own – if they did. But knock-offs for items available from a producer directly cuts into their sales. I'd really like to find out about this one, also.

Marc33594 Supporting Member of TMP27 Mar 2013 5:55 a.m. PST

I did hear back from the FOW folks. They say these are copies and their attorney has sent a letter to the seller.
