I know this question gets asked from time to time but models of this chopper seem to come and go with alarming frequency. Does anyone out there know of a source for these choppers? I have searched pretty extensively but can't find anything in production other than QRF, which I would rather not use. I'm hoping that I have overlooked a source. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance. |

Flashpoint used to make them, but they are not on the new website. You might drop them a line and ask about them. The new website is: flashpoint-miniatures.com I think they were the old Aoshima "Batle Rotor" moulds. BWW |

You can order the Aoshima "Battle Rotor" kits from hlj.com for about $8 USD each, plus shipping. link They're backordered right now, but are still in production. I'm going to have to order a bunch of UH60s for my moderns. |

Hi all and thank you very much for your input. @Brian – I have been in touch with the new owner of Flashpoint and he advised that they were out of stock but hoping to fill in the gap. @Mark thanks for the pointer. I don't know how I missed it when I was looking around for other Flashpoint products. @LitS – Thanks for the tip but I followed EC's advice and picked up the four I needed

Look out for the Revell kits – hard to find now, but very nice. Available in several different versions. And add PP door gunners :) |

I got an Accurate Miniatures plastic kit on ebay. Being a plastic scale model, rather than a wargames miniature, it's a bit fiddly and flimsy compared to a big piece of resin or whatever, but it looks nice. You can see pictures here: link |

The Revell, Aoshima, Accurate Miniatures, Kangnam and ACE Blackhawk/Nighthawk/Seahawk kits all come from the same moulds. The parts breakdown is exactly the same, as are the details. Flashpoint Miniatures never produced a plastic helicopter kit: they bought a stock of models from one of these manufacturers (I'm betting on AM) and rebranded them. |

Oh yeah! One of the guys on the Ambush Alley forums had a brilliant idea for a transport helicopter flight stand: He used a CD (or other base about the size of the rotor diameter), and made the 'flight' part of the stand out of floral wire, twisted and positioned to look like the fast ropes. And then he put a dust cloud of teddy bear stuffing on the base. The helicopter model just sat on the fast ropes at the cabin roof, it wasn't permanently attached. |

Risaldar Singh, When Flashpoint first brought them out, Drew said (on the old forum, I think) that Flashpoint had bought the moulds. My statement was based on that. BWW |

BWW, I read a statement on the Fields of Fire froum that they had bought the stock. ;-) They were described the various chopeprs as coming from a "not a known or common make and will be packaged under the Flashpoint brand since we bought out all existing stock." Anyway, I pointed this out so that people wouldn't go looking for one particular brand and pass on another because they thought they were in fact different. |

It has been quite common, over the years, for moulds to change hands and get rebranded. In fact some of the common plastic masters currently on the market originated with Miltra, who technically still own them ;-) |

Plastic model manufacturers are forever buying old moulds from each other and repackaging the same old kits. Tracing the lienage of supposedly new releases is a hobby unto itself. ;-) |

RS, Oh OK, that might be what I read then. I know that when I built the Huey, it was a dead ringer for the Revell ones I have collected from eBay. When I mentioned that, Drew said that the Revell and Aoshima molds were the same ones. I know you are correct about molds getting around. I bought a Tamiya Huey Hog (copyright 1968)and a Revell one (copyright 1985)and they were DEFINITELY from the same molds. The sprues matched up with each other right down to the ejector marks; the only difference being that the "Tamiya" tag was missing. BWW |

Hey, Geoff, I thought QRF had bought Miltra? How come you're not making bundles of money selling plastic 1/100 Blackhawks? <G> |
