We did a French and Indian wars skirmish at the club today. It was a raid by the French on a defended settlement. Fierce little game it was too! The write up is at: link

Certainly looked like a nip and tuck, nice write up. |

28mm, Ditto. Indians are mostly Conquest with some Perry. Courer de Bois and Compagnie Franches de la Marine also by Conquest. Militia by SHQ & Irregular. Rangers from Galloping Major (those painted as Dunn's Company) and Warrior (the ones painted as Roger's). Horrendously close game. The random deployment concentrated the French and their Indian allies on both flanks, and the reaction-driven movement pushed them forward very aggressively. We found the closely-spaced buildings and fences blocked line-of-fire, so our units found it difficult to fire in support of each other. My rangers could easily have been shot down like dogs while withdrawing across the river, but for the French decision to push forward rather than exploring the riverbank. |
