Greetings One and All,

There's a new Narn-Centauri battle report for Babylon 5: Starmada on my blog:

Lots of pictures – some made difficult due to the hex grid.

May the Spoo be With You,

Cool looking game! My favorite B5 matchup. We have been using Starmada X. Our games are usually bloodbaths between the Narn and Centauri. I am also a HUGE fan of the Fleet scale ships.

I haven't played AE. Usually our two player games have 6-12 ships and up to 30 stands of fighters per player. Games lasting about 2-2.5 hours.

I would love to see some stats for Starmada Fleet Ops for B5. That could be a perfect fit.

Thanks,

John

One of the reasons our group has switched to Starmada Nova Edition from Admiralty edition is because they've reduced the number of rolls when attacks are made. In the Nova edition, the attacker rolls his attack dice and figures out how many hits he scored. There is only one roll for defense (using your shield rating, if you have one.) In the new edition, there are three type of defenses-ECM, which reduces the number of attack dice rolled against you, shields which negates hit dice, and armor, which is ablative armor that soaks up damage.

Since the rules are generic, we have used Star Trek Klingons, B5 Narn and Centauri, generic human starships, some homemade cube ships, Battlefleet Gothic Chaos Imperial and Tyranids, all with dramatically different abilities.

We're also a fan of balanced games using point systems. MJ12 games designs their games with excellent math, because no matter how much we try to stress them, their point systems are extremely well balanced.

John – yes, it was nice to bring the fleets out of mothballs – so many minis, so little time.

Steve – we're looking at Starmada Nova for a trial game – I like the idea of simplifying the damage rolls.

I don't know if Starmada X is even available any more. We can always go back to Full Thrust, maybe with the cinematic movement rules…

Regards,
Keith F.
