Hi Guys

I am looking to get some mid-republican Romans in 15mm , for Basic Impetus/Fog. I am tempted by the Warmodelling Fog starter army but am just having a quick look at other manufacturers before taking the plunge. Most of the other companies I have looked at have left me cold. I strayed across the Lancashire games website and was curious about them. I have seen good reviews of the napoleonics stuff but nothing on their ancients lines and the pictures of the ancients on the website are very poor quality. What do people think of them , especially the Roman, CAthaginian & Spanish figures ?

Thanks

Phil

I can't comment on Lanashire minis but I do have the Roman Warmodelling figures. They are great figures but on the large 18mm side. I couldn't fit them on the tradition DBx size bases. But the detail on the figures were great, just wish they were a little smaller.

They vary per range, some are quite nice. I have heard criticism of the ankles on their horses, however, but that dates from several years back and may no longer be true.

I put together a dba roman force last year. I could not find much regarding Lancashire. I ended up with Corvus Belli and am happy with the choice.
I am in the US.

Some are nice, some are very thin and poorly defined.

Corvus Belli are for later period Romans….

Old Glory has a nice range for the period….

The armies you question about are of the best sculpted ranges they have…

The Romans – republican, Imperial and late Roman are lovely figures even though Im bias, the quality of the pictures is by fault, Im still learning when I get time to use the camera, never been a photographer, once we have got a pic of everything on the site we will re do, putting painted pics up but there are just so many codes and never enough time

I like Lancashire Games ancient stuff mostly but they are generally single pose packs. The warmodelling figures are enormous. A friend has the Romans and they dwarf most other ranges I've ever seen. He'll never paint them though so they'll never face my stuff across the table.

link has a listing of suitable and near-suitable manufacturers for this army.

The Ancient ranges are designed as one pose the more regular the troop type, ie Roman Legionaries are one pose, carthaginian Spansh cav 2 poses, Celt and early german Warriors 5-6 variants a pack
