My main interest is in world war 2, but lately the midievil period has captured my interest so I placedan order with pendraken. Now a I'm wondering how I'm going to make all that very small chain mail look decent. Can anyone give me any tops or tell me how you do it? |

Drybrush metal over black – it always worked for me. |

Yep, Matheo's method works for me, too – tho' be careful to use a matt black – shiny on shiny isn't great – I've had decent results using Panzer Grey as a base coat, too
. Check out the Pendraken forums for lots of great tips and eye candy from lots of people: pendrakenforum.co.uk |

Dry brushing is your friend at this scale. Black base coat – making sure all the cracks and gaps are painted. Then I sometimes go for a two shade metallic dry brush. Firstly a fairly heavy dry brush of Oily Steel, then a much lighter one of a bright silver. |

I totally agree with Matheo and the rest, I also like to use a wash of dark brown. |

I use Vajello Natural Steel over grey primer and a black wash , W&N nut brown or Army Painter Strong Tone wash watered down over the top helps lift the metal colour |
