Here is my 1:56 scale Panokseon ("board roofed" or "superstructured" ship). it was the main class of warship used by the Korean Joseon Dynasty during the late 16th century.

The Sekibune in particular, being the standard warship of the Japanese fleet, was built to be as light as possible, increasing its speed at the expense of structural integrity. This is consistent with traditional Japanese naval tactics of the time, which emphasized boarding enemy ships and engaging their crews in hand to hand combat.

Fair to say they put my ship building efforts to shame.

rvandusen14 Feb 2013 9:18 a.m. PST

Fantastic work! The ships are marvelous.

This is very impressive, specially the ships. I have korean and japanese figures (from Scheltrum and Perry) too, mostly unpainted. I have only a chinese junk, used from my wako pirates, but I would like to do a little sea warfare if I would get some korean and japanese ships specially a turtle ship. I have not time and probably not the abilities to biult scratch-up ships.

Therefore I admire your work very much.

The ships are indeed really well done. I have a large Korean army sitting in boxes and you have given me some incentive to start painting! Your paint jobs on the Koreans are really sharp.

Thanks! I'll try using an online translator.

May I ask where you obtained plans and/or drawings for your ship models?

Are the cannon all scratch-built?

sgawara8415 Feb 2013 8:04 a.m. PST

I just made all ships myself. But, all cannons are commercial kit.

If you want to get some drawings for advice,
please refer below link. I've got many hint from this blog,
