Hey All, I'm really trying to psych myself up of my new project, Indian Mutiny! Got some good books but was wondering if there were any movies or TV specials or documentaries on the incident? |

There is an old 50's movie called the Bengal Brigade. Not a great movie, but not bad either! JT |

"The Deceivers" (1988), with Pierce Brosnan, based on the John Masters novel of the same name. our hero vs the thugee cult. OK, so it's not the Mutiny, but it's kinda close.

I'm not aware of anything - probably rather too hot a topic for anything recent (having said that, there is no doubt a Kenneth More film knocking around from the 1950s somewhere). I don't know if you've added fiction to your list of books, but "The Siege of Krishnapur" by JG Farrell is the Indian Mutiny novel par excellence. |

There definitely has been at least one TV history show/series - within the last 5 years = on SBS (=PBS) in Australia. I vaguely recall one lightweight show on the mutiny - possibly as part of a British Empire or but more likely an Indian history series. The show went to the real sites and used extras in uniforms.

The old Errol Flynn, David Niven "The Cjarge of the Light Brigade" replicates the Cawnpore Massacre in a fictionalized town. The whole movie is historcally incorrect in every respect, but it is great entertainment and will give you some flavor of the period. |

Well, we will hit 150th anniversary soon, so no doubt something will be made. There have been several things on, but damned if I can remember them. |

Gunga Din, Charge of the Light Brigade,Wee Willie Winkie, Lives of the Bengal Lancer, Decievers, Kim , last a little off topic but good for color. Must be others but this is all my old brain can think of at the moment. |

There's a Bollywood movie: 'Mangal Pandy', about the initial outbreak – so if you don't mind colourful mass dance routines with your history… |
