In late January I ordered several models from Frontline Wargaming for my British forces. They arrived today and I'm quite pleased with the products and the service.

First, about the service. Communication was good. Tim responded to my email query about the price for postage to Canada and let me know that postage is at cost and he would have to cast the models to get the price, since he did not have them on hand. I agreed and he took about a week to cast the models and give me a firm price, which was slightly lower than I had estimated. I paid by Paypal and it took about 10 days for the models to arrive in western Canada from the UK. They were mailed in a bubble envelope, which took me a bit aback – the package was marked Fragile, but who knows with the postal services? As it turned out, no problems though, the contents were wrapped in corrugated card and more bubble-wrap and there was no damage at all.

The models themselves are straightforward kits. I bought 3 15cwt trucks, a jeep and a Humber AC. The jeep has the windshield down, so is just the body and the 4 wheels. The trucks are 7 pieces: an open-backed main piece, 4 wheels, a windshield and the canvas roof. The Humber AC has 6 pieces: the main body, 4 wheels, and the turret, which has the guns cast in.

The castings are clean on the upper or outer surfaces, and have few bubbles. There are some small resin spheres from bubbles in the moulds on undercut surfaces, but nothing too bad. I expect they will clean up easily and should be no problem to assemble. Overall, I've bought far worse resin castings and I've only seen a few companies (such as Old Crow and Antenocity) that are consistenly better. The prices are also very reasonable and I have no hesitation about ordering again.

I have had good experience with Frontline too, good value for money product and very reasonable shipping to Edmonton.

I can only say positive things about Frontline; nice products at a sensible price and good service.

Bangs per buck, I always had satisfaction with Frontline and have no problem recommending them. I'm a figure gamer rather than a fine scale model maker so certainly good enough Yes there are better casts out there (about 2 or 3 times the price, i'm not sure if the quality jump is in line with the price jump). Their service has always been superior and packaging very much of the belts and braces variety (extra layer of bubble wrap just to make sure). Certainly if you need a mass of trucks, or are after something for a sealion/AWBCW or one of the more esoteric forces of WW2, there is no better source.

I was trying to decide between the Britannia and Frontline models of the US Deuce and a Half-- you guys have swayed me to go with Frontline.

Good value for money and I have bought quite a bit over the years. However, the scales can vary – the Universal Carrier is huge compared with the Bren carrier!

Trockledockle, from my experience the scales are fairly consistent, if you are comparing the Frontline Universal Carrier with the Airfix version then the Airfix one is underscale

I find the Britannia vehicles more 1/76 than 1/72, just FYI.

I emailed Frontline a few months ago and Tim said all of his vehicles are 1/76.

RLBS in USA carries Fronline as well. Good service and communication. Catch them on sale and even better.

I was comparing the Frontline Universal with the Frontline Bren. The Airfix is pretty close to 1/76 (should be 47.5mm long-actually 46.9mm). The Frontline Bren is also 46.9mm long and is a good match for the Airfix. I've built up the engine compartment and sides on the Frontline Bren to convert it to a Universal. The Frontline Universal is significantly bigger at 50mm long (27 mm wide) so I think that it could be a good match for the PSC carrier. Others that could be considered are the Britannia,Rapid Fire and Minimi and possibly Milicast.

If you do not mind white metal kits, MMS are very nice too.

We've lots of Frontline stuff – especially for early war Germans… 221, 222, 223, Pz1, Pz2, 35T, 38T – as well as Tim's DFS Gliders…

Really nice stuff that just works! What's more, Tim's a nice bloke, too!!
