Chicago Skirmish Wargames' post-apocalyptic campaign, tentatively titled "Days Gone By," kicked off last week. For the rules, we're using This Is Not A Test (TNT), a ruleset under development right now and hopefully coming to a game store shelf near you sometime later this year. You can read the full batrep here: link And here are a few pics:

Did you give up Apocalypticum? I'm running a PA RPG based around Omaha. Does your campaign have any groups or organizations that would be trying to grab power in this part of the world? There is lost tech in Omaha, and a former military base south of town that might be of interest. Might be fun to have a crossover, of sorts. |

Ping Pong: We had fun with Apocalypticum but development of the ruleset wasn't moving forward as quickly as we'd hoped. TNT is a bit more crunchy and better suited for campaign play
and a lot closer to being publication-ready. Both are solid rulesets, though. And your idea about a crossover thing is great! Josh's Preservers warband is always looking to track down reports of lost tech in the wastelands. Do you have a faction or group in mind that might be defending the military base if somebody were to come snooping around? I'd love to play out a scenario on the tabletop and then get you some results that you can incorporate into your RPG setting. |

As well as Apocalypticum, we tried a number of other rulesets as well before settling on TNT. Some are designed as Post Apoc, some were rulesets we liked but knew we'd have to bolt-on additional rules. I think the full list was: Apocalypticum Wastelands 1.2 (played this a while ago) Wastelands 3 Meltdown Neutron York 3000 Blasters and Bulkheads In The Emperor's Name All of the above had good points, but in the end we decided to go with TNT. It had a bit more crunch than our usual Song of Blades type games, but not so much as to be overwhelming and the campaign system seems quite good. We actually just received another updated Beta of the rules so we'll be trying that next time. |

I'll have to check out TNT when it comes out. I haven't decided on who guards the base. The PCs are in a town south of Omaha, and it isn't unusual for wanderers to stop by. I think the Preservers will make a stop one day. I'll check out your bat rep for more info. Maybe I'll have some questions. Let me think about this a little bit. |

The territory that the Preservers were exploring in our game was called the Pestilent Expanse. I'm imagining it as a windswept boneyard full of shattered buildings, rubble, and plague zombies. Wish I had taken some photos of the table. Lots of scenario possibilities
