So, it finally made it to the public! After long hours of playtesting, harddrive failures, account-troubles we've finally managed to bring out Fireteam Andromeda!

The full press release is available here:
link

In short:
Fireteam Andromeda is a set of rules for 15mm science fiction wargames, that easily handles up to a company's worth of troops a side. It is penned by Torben Kastbjerg, and is available through Wargame Vault or Lulu.com.

At a Glance:

  • 96 pages, full color – either as a PDF or as a POD book from Lulu.com
  • Uses only d6's for all resolutions.
  • Turn sequence utilizes a special alternate activation system, that models not only the ability of a commander but also morale of individual units as well.
  • Includes a fully fledged army-list system, allowing you to build your own armies using any miniatures from your favorite manufacturer.
  • Easily handles up to 50 infantry models and 15 vehicles models a side within a two hour timeframe, with variant rules included for 6mm and 28mm scale games.
  • All inclusive; you'll never need to purchase any expansions, armylists or similar material – all you need to play is included in this single book.

For further information then visit either the Two Knights Publishing blog or for more information about the game as well as the setting that is included in the book, then visit the Terminus Nebula blog .

This has got me interested.

I've been reading the book as I ordered and downloaded the PDF. It's too early for a review but I'm enjoying it.

The summer my son (14 yr old) and I are working on a 15mm "Earth Force vs. Space Demons" convention game. AKA "Rebel Minis vs. Khurasan" evil grin

This rules set might be useful for our needs. I have to build an "Aliens Horde" type list but there are force lists I can use for the Earth Force troops (not they're labeled as such the book unit entries are generic which I think is great) and vehicles already in the book.

Also, I've been looking for a rule set I can use to play with 7 Merka 5 tanks with my Titan Legion. This looks like a rule set I can use for all that.

I have to play it a few more times though. I'm a bit concerned that only two units can activate per turn but I suspect I'm missing something between Command Activation and Command Ratings. Overall we've enjoyed the small test games very much.

Edit: There isn't anything that distinguishes between different armor "values" all tanks/hover armor are all the same value. I'd like it if say, the Siler could be better represented with a higher value.

Force Builder – An online force builder would be fantastic to have. I love playing around with making lists. I'd pay for that if it's similar to what Easy Army offers. grin

Glad to hear that you're enjoying the PDF! :)

To answer this really quick, then the number of units that you can activate is 1 + The Leadership Rating (or, as it is called in the rules, the Command Rating). This means that, while it usually starts out at two activations, you can modify this by purchasing various Command Upgrades for your Commanders :)

Edit: There isn't anything that distinguishes between different armor "values" all tanks/hover armor are all the same value. I'd like it if say, the Siler could be better represented with a higher value.

Well, you could choose the "Heavy Vehicle" trait for the Siler, or purchase Armor upgrades as well or in addition to said trait; you could easily end up with armor 14 vehicles, given enough upgrades… :D

We are already looking into this, but I'm glad to hear that there's an interest in it already!

Thank you for the responses Torben Kastbjerg. I appreciate the responses! thumbs up

Again, I'm a noob with this game but I just can't help thinking that the Leadership Command Upgrade is a no brainer choice? I certainly don't want to fight someone who's bought the Leadership x2 for a Command Rating of 4. That's twice as many units as the opponent if they didn't take one.

Edit: I apologize for a specific question in this topic. I'll start other topics for this or other questions in the future!

Edit Edit: I really like the QRF sheets. Very useful.

To an extend, then you're definitely right in that it can be a bit of a no-brainer choice for your Commanders. But then, factor in that the upgrade is far from cheap and that your Commander only applies the Leadership if he's deployed. So, one lucky barrage later, and your opponent has suddenly gone from a Command Rating of 4 down to 1.

As a personal preference (and because I'm notoriously unlucky) I keep my Command Rating around the 2-3 mark, with a single NCO squad with a Command Rating of 2 as a back-up. You never know, after all :)
